Summon Skeletons Damage wrong

I tried to search for a similar topic but couldnt find one so i decided to make my own. I apologize if this has been asked a lot.

Currently, i have lvl 14 Skeleton Mastery and lvl 17 Summon Skeleton (14 without the +3 from my head). When i mouseover Summon Skeleton on the Skill Tree, it lists the Skeleton Damage as "84-86". However, when i mouseover the quick spell (the one to the right of the belt) it says that the damage is "77-79". I tried a few things:
-make a new game
-resummon skeles
-take off the head
And they all still show the quick spell with lower damage (exactly one level lower of Summon Skeleton). It has been this way for a while...regardless of what i do when i level.

(i also have lvl 1 amplify damage, lvl 6 summon resist, lvl 17 summon mage (14 without wand), and one in each of the prerequisites to get summon resist)

Has anyone else had this problem?...and which one is correct?

Also....for a bonus question....i have lvl 6 summon resist.....im not a "hardcore" player (neither the char type or the player type)....i plan on going thru hell and killing guys for loot. im planning on maxing the skill so my summons' resistances arent garbage in hell. ill eventually get a lotta +'s to skills so i figured it'll all stack and give them decent resists (-100 is awful...especially when lvl 20 summon resist is only about 60-something). Should i max? or stick with lvl 6?

Thanks for the help.

Your damage on the skeletons: Do not worry, with amp and a might merc they'll kill everything.

As for summon resists, I vaguely seem to recall that the - res penalty does not affect your skeletons. If it did, they'd be utterly and completely useless beyond normal, and I am damned sure they ain't. I never added more than 1 pt into summon res. +skills will do the rest. Just forget about that skill. 6 is more than enough. Not enough to warrant a rebuild, mind you, as all you need for a skelliemancer to work in Hell is 20 SM, 20 Summonskellies, 1 AM, 1 revive and a boatload of +skills.

Welcome Newcomer to The Darkness. Grab a brew and feel free to raise some corpses.

It is a common problem. There is a reason it is called the LCS (or Lying Character Screen). The lower damage is the correct one. In your case the 77-79. For info on your minions you should take a look at this
calc
.

Correct. Your minions do not suffer from the -res penalties.

oh..one more thing...i used that summons damage calculator.....it and Diabloii show different levels of the Act 2 Merc's Might Aura with each actual level of the merc. (for example...at lvl 45...the merc shows lvl 7 might on the calc site and lvl 14 for this site).

Which one is correct?

don't waste skill points into summon resist... it's a waste beyond 1 point.

Why?

because mine's currently like lvl 12 at like 64% or something and the next lvl boosts it up to 64%. Big diminishing returns man. Check arreat summit

Jakey is right, mine is currently at lvl 46 I think (somewhere around there) and is at 70%. That is alot of skill points used for 6% more resist.

Adding to other comments, since you're already going a bit late, but here's the right order to invest in RS/SM:
- 1 RS
- 1 SM
- Max RS
- Max SM

This will make your skellies the strongest while you are leveling.

ok. thanks a lot for all the feedback.

Im trying to figure out damage, but the calc site and diabloii's site give different levels for the Act 2 Might Merc's Aura. Anyone know which one is right?
