Summon Prebuff Question

I read that it's really important for summoners to have two sets of gear: one with a bunch of +summon skills and one that they use after they make their army.

I did notice that my skeletons would die, though, if I took off my +summon skills equipment.

Do the skeletons actually gain a benefit from casting with 30+ Skeleton/Skeleton Mastery and then switching down to base? Like do they get added hps and added damage from skeleton mastery?

Yes, they keep the stats they were summoned with. All that changes when you switch gear is the maximum number you can have.

They gain, but when you switch some of the skellies will sooner or later die.
