    Max Raise Skeleton (main minions)
    Max Skeleton Mastery
Max Raise Skeleton Mages (support/backup for PIs that amp cannot break)
    Max Corpse Explosion (huge radius)
++ into Dim Vision (for higher radius to blind ranged attackers)
    1 lower resist (party play/Hard PI +mages)
1 revive (support for more dmg, selective reviving)
    1 summon resist
    1 golem mastery
    1 bone armor
    0 fire golem
    0-1 attract (your choice)
    0-1 confuse (your choice)
    1 prereqs

You can go full trangs or uniqs set up with the goal of attaining as much +skills as possible :D Best merc is nightmare offensive act 2 merc (might) to boost dmg output from skellies, revivies and make geting 1st corpse for CE easier hehe. Clay golem would play universal dartboard/slowing minion and curses like amp, deceprify, dim vision, lower resist and occasionally life tap will be employed. Summoners unlike bonemancers do fine w/o any fcr unless you have tele. Cheers and good choice with giving the necro class a shot :D (very fun and well balanced char)

That build would use only 86 skills points, I would go ahead and put more into revives, if you are a pure summoner that is. Otherwise, I have no problems with the skill point choices.

Not really IMO, a naked necro could solo hell if he was a summoner. But for pvp yeah, you would need very good gear to kill others.

    8 curses
    7 summons
    2 poison and bone

    97 points to me....
    lvl 85

Im only just in act5 hell after completely destroying diablo, but I still have yet to find a use for my 1 pt(9 modded) revives.

Mages are paper thin defense wise, but make good additional damag,e you will be reraising them often.
Skellies have not died to a point where the battle was lost yet.

Skellies will do fine most of the time, CE speeds things up.
    Mages help on PIs

All curses are useful, but attract and confuse can be lived without, or employed to good use.

Dude, I have another Summoner build, my Summoner is lvl 85, and has this:

    -Max mastery
    -Max skels
    -Max revives
    -1 golem mastery, iron golem
    -1 summon resist
    -1 magi (yes only 1)
    -15 Corpse Explosion
-All curses up to Lower Resist
    -Bone armor + wall

My Summoner owns all :D, and as for PI monsters, my revives handle those (I use elemental attack revives) with Lower Resist on them. PI's are taken out quite fast with elemental revives and Lower Resist. But there aren't too many PI monsters that Amp Damage can't break. Basically, the skills I have just said, are derived from tihs guide:

    Try it out

But anyway, ya... use the ball of clay :)

I see a lot of necros using fire golem --- probably under the assumption that a lvl 30 skill must be better than a lvl 6 skill.

My own Skelemancer can be found here

That must be the same reason that I used fire golem

If you get a good clay golem, he can have 20k life base! =O
