Hello everyone, I have not used a summon mancer since .09 patch.
I'm currently playing ESCNL, I have a few idea and was just looking for people input on somethings ive decided to try.

Being that i'm a summoner I did not feel the need to go for max fcr bp of 125 w/ enigma.

Weapon - Doom, I chose this for Holyfreeze+the +2skills, currently using a beast.

Shield - I really want to use a Boneflame but getting a +3 / 30pris is very very tough. Atleast it has been for me. Thought about spirit b/c of the great mods 35%fcr/55fhr. May go w/ a Homunculus for the great block/res.

Rings - I'm going to use 2x BKs, dont have spare sojs and don't wanna take them from sorc.

belt - Archnid mesh , FCR big must for me.

Gloves - I'm going with Trangs for the fcr/res/+2 curses.

Helm - Would love to use shako but since i'm using a doom for weap I really need the fcr here so i'm using a very standard +2 20fcr circlet. I intend to UM this.

Boots - Marrows, I have 20/2 marrows 188ed so I figure ill use these.

Merc
Still iso a Faith bow for a rogue merc, not sure of ias bps for her but ill probably just stick a 15ias kiras on her and use a fort.

So far i'm lvl 74 act3 hell
334-337 skele dmg, I have 13 skills I havent used + I dont touch my skill quest untill i'm close to done lvling. So far my only real problem in hell has been my block is terrible and my resist are also very bad. As long as I keep back my skeles w/ decrep/CE have been pretty solid. Does fant help skeles? I think it does...maybe im wrong. Maybe switching from beast to doom would help b/c ill get +2 skills and w/ a faith merc my skeles would also get fant. Ive enjoyed making this character and its becoming more fun as I gain lvls cant wait to baal!

1 pt base in the rest of summons
1 pt base to get up to Decrep in my curses
1 pt base BA/BW/BP/Teeth/Spirit/CE

I was realmed trying to xfer so I havnt got to much into numbers and some of my info could be a tad off. Anyone have suggestions or would like to share their experiences? Not quite sure where to use the rest of my skills, BA/CE?

I'd keep the beast on ya and use it with homo as mains (when you have your army up).......have switch of AoKL and +skills shield (spirit, lidless, another homo, boneflame, etc.)......then you can use shako......I'd go with A2 might merc with infinity/pride/insight polearm (in that order) with Fort and Vamps/Andy's.......Also I would not put more than one pint into bone armor, you get more life in your bone armor by putting points into bonewall/bone prison as a synergy......I'd probably max mages if you get infinity, or max CE then points into bonewall/bone prison......

I would strongly suggest against using Doom, that HolyFreeze aura kills your two methods of damage, summons and Corpse explosion.

My personaly favorite setup with a summoner is...

2/20/str/resists Circ
2/20/str/resists Ammy
Mp or Ap Enigma
Spirit Monarch
Arach
Trang Gloves
Beastz
20/xx NTorch
20/xx/xx Anni
7-9x Summon Gc Lifers
7-10x 5/5 (resists/fhr) or 20 sc lifers.

Do not use holy freeze on summoner. freeze pops bodies, CE is where your mob killing speed comes from, no bodies means much, much, much slower killing. Stick with skill items, like HOTO and AOKL. Beast is ok, but since most of your killing speed comes CE, the only time you will notice the difference is in 8 player games.

My summoner is so over powered, I don't even waste time with prebuff anymore (except for ubers) I just use HOTO and homonculus and never switch. I prefer HOTO over AOKL for its combination of skills, resists, and mf. I prefer homonc for resists, higher block, and faster block over the +3 from boneflame.

Without the AOKL/Boneflame prebuff and without beast my mob killing speed has been completely unaffected. Bosses might take 10 seconds to kill now instead of 9. Summoners are so over powered already these tweaks are unecessary and almost unoticable.

Thanks everyone, I didnt even think of the HF ruinign CE..hehe. I'll look intoa AoKL but probably just gonna use hoto

I must agree. I stacked crap insights on a mule and use them for iron golems (=> infinite mana) and use forti/andys/infinity might merc, once the first body hits the floor the corpse explosions begin and even my retired hammerdin weeps.

Fun character, but quite OP, at least with the best runewords... I'm skipping beast also, at least for now. Was thinking of trying to get a low one cheaply just to test things out, but I'm not sure anymore. Everything dies so fast there really is no point...
