Suggestion:The Spy

The Spy through their career knows their enemy well they can disguise themselves and move among the enemy unnoticed. The Spy is not neccessarily a stranger to magic and has seen how it can enhance their skills although they possess no magic that may strike an enemy directly but rather in indirect methods.

Skills:
As they know their enemy so well they get better criticals.

They have the ability to swap places with an enemy but for a short period enemies will not be aware and will view their comrade as an enemy.

A Spy can tag an enemy for the right opportunity to attack, any tagged enemy recieves extra damage.Tagging cannot be predicted as circumstances can change so an opportunity must be taken quickly.(Tagging will appear on a random enemy).

Infiltration is easy for a spy,for a short period of time the Spy may pass enemies unnoticed.

To avoid his Identity being given away a Spy has learnt to despatch solitry enemies quickly, the fewer enemies around the more quickly he can eliminate them.

The spy learns the lay of the land, knows every pitfall and crevice and so gains a movement bonus.

Might add some more(need more offensive skills).

The spy is an interesting character. While there may possibly be a place in the Diablo world for a spy, I'm not sure if there's a place in a Diablo game for a spy, especially in multiplayer. There would be no time to do the sneaking around and what not while the rest of your teammates are hackin away. by the time you snuck past any enemies they'd be dead anyway. Even in a single player game you'd have no killing power if you were discovered or didn't opt to sneak past your enemies and eliminate them when they separated from the herd.

I think your thinking of an Assassin hiding in the shadows but that isn't the Idea of Infiltration but rather he appears as a friendly,it maybe that they can get closer to the enemy before they react so it would help against ranged attackers. Also one of the abilities to despatch solitry targets all that would mean is enemies that are spread out will take more damage from the Spy attacks based on a area around their intended victim which could decrease at higher levels.

A lot of characters used in fantasy games Diablo included we dont normally associate in the positions of fighting with a group but with a little imagination they can be made to fit in.The thing with an ARPG things you dont have to be as strict with the roleplay part.A Spy doesn't always work alone and probably less so than an Assassin.

Anyway what I might agree upon if anyone were to say is that the Spy might not make a good 4th/5th but rather a 6th/7th character on an expansion.

Ah yes, I definitely misunderstood your view, sorry mate. This definitely would be an interesting style of game play. And I love having drastically different game play styles so that I don't get bored with the game, just with the individual characters.

So in your eyes is this guy demon-looking/disguised? or does magic grant him his abilities?

It'd be cool if somehow the equipment he wore made him look similar to enemy characters (to us that is, obviously abilities would be based on skill points and not equipment choices). Maybe light armor made him look more like a zombie or a skeleton warrior, and heavy armor more like an oblivion knight or something. That would really give the feeling that this guy is a spy.

Good point, this may not be a good 4th/5th char, but maybe after the games been out for a while this could be an interesting character to spice up things a bit.
