Students suing "Borat"

US students sue over Borat film
Sacha Baron Cohen
Sacha Baron Cohen's character has been a hit in US cinemas
Two US students are suing a film studio claiming they were duped into appearing in spoof movie Borat starring Sacha Baron Cohen as a Kazakh journalist.

The unknown plaintiffs are seen making sexist and racist remarks in Borat: Cultural Learnings of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.

Legal papers said the two men "engaged in behaviour that they otherwise would not have engaged in".

Spokesman for 20th Century Fox Gregg Brilliant said the case "has no merit".

The men are identified in the film as two fraternity members from a South Carolina university.

'Humiliation'

They are not named in the case "to protect themselves from any additional and unnecessary embarrassment".

According to legal documents, a production crew took the pair to a bar to drink and "loosen up" before taking part in a documentary they were told would be shown outside the US.

The film "made plaintiffs the object of ridicule, humiliation, mental anguish and emotional and physical distress, loss of reputation, goodwill and standing in the community," the papers stated.

British comedian Cohen appears in the film as an apparently naive reporter whose enthusiastic offensiveness either leaves his US interviewees in shock, or persuades them to reveal a little too much of their own prejudices.

As well as Fox, the two men are also suing three other production companies.

The film is currently at the top of the box office charts in North America and the UK.

Does this seem ridiculous to anyone else?

I haven't watched it yet but they apparently made some racist comments which they would naturally like to pawn off as being drunk candid behaviour. Stupid punks trying to squeeze a dollar.

Events like this (on a much smaller scale) are reasons why I'm not too interested in being drunk.

I know, the OTF was founded on being drunk every so often. Sorry.

*Sighs*

This is as silly as the thread where someone had co-workers who wanted him to ask for $100 for damages that didn't happen. Bloody moneymongering jerkoffs.

Yeah, this is stupid. I did however say this exact thing would happen right after seeing the movie. My friends owe my 10$.

The stupid kids are probably upset their parents saw it or something.

That was my first thought too. It's all fun and games untill Mommy and Daddy find out.
I just can't believe the nerve of some people, though. It makes me think that the crazy stuff that happens on Law and Order actually happens sometimes.

Yes, clearly they're embarrassed that they said that crap and somehow they think that this doesn't make them look like even bigger dickwads.

You know Law and Order isn't real, right?

I wouldn't be too happy if there was a clip of me in a movie which millions and millions of people will see, where I was talking bad about women while watching a porn movie. Those guys will never ever get laid again(if they ever did).

I think some of those episodes are based on true events....but when they say based on true events, they probably mean "based on a murder that happend in some town within the last ten years"

I'm pretty sure his comment implied that...

Yeah, I've seen many stories paralleling real events on Law and Order over the years.

I thought so too. Not sure what Donny is going on about this time. =)
