Stuck at the Ancients on Normal as Necromancer

Welcome to the forums ZahFox.:)

Just want to pop in to say that your mercenary is your best friend in single player mode. They won't die too much if you can give them some decent armour and weapon (try gambling if nothing good drops for you).

Also runes (and runwords) are something to keep in mind when playing. They can be VERY useful in higher difficulties.

You should still be able to salvage your necromancer. First off, I'd check if the den of evil is really done, that should be obvious from your quest long. If it is, you're just gonna have to make do with what you have. For the ancients fight, summon your clay golem on top of all your skellies and get an act 2 merc with a half decent weapon, if possible. In the fight, just keep casting decrepify on the ancients and resummon your clay golem as it goes down. Obviously don't fight this on "players 8".

As you start gaining points, max out raise skeleton first. If you need more in depth info, try looking at the guide I wrote. It should still be around. ;)

I agree with Nightfish. You're only ~5 areas away from your respec quest in nightmare, so you should push through with it a little longer, and then "restart."

But to read Nightfish's guide no matter which road you take! It contains everything you need to know (will a bit more to be honest...) about summoners. There is a reason why summoner necromancers are called Fishys...

Yeah, people mislabel things. Summoner necromancers are called summoner necromancers. The only thing special about Nightfish's guide was the 4Eth2Shael PB with CB gear for the necro. Stop acting like he invented putting points in Skeleton and Mastery.

Being someone who never knew "Nightfish" was a person, much less the one who made a Skelemancer guide (Sorry, I guess that's a mislabel too?) that created the term "Fishymancer", I always had my own reasoning for why people called it that. I assumed it was fishy that a naked necro could go through the entire game. Fishy is used as slang for "suspicious" and its synonyms, is it not?

Folks, we're not allowed to nickname things anymore! Someone might get the impression we're worshiping false prophets! No assumptions on supposed "mislabel" meanings either!

Guess we have to revert to long, drawn-out titles.

Tamoe Highlands Lvl 1 Pit Berserker Barbarian
Frozen Orb & Meteor Sorceress
Blessed Hammer Paladin

ZzZzzz....

Feel free to argue that none of the builds I mentioned include all or part of a forum members name, it'll be a moot point.

Well since this new member of our forum has problems in creating a "simple" summoner necro it would help him to have a guide.

Once you have gotten passed your first 3 or 4 char (10??) you don't need guides for the skill or stat setting and just look at them for gear suggestions. For my own part when I was a newbie (ahh... not that long ago actually...) I absolutely loved the build guides that had a level by level guide on how to out the points. Nightfish's guide is one of the most clear and helpful guides there is and it is well known here in this forum for a reason.

He has also created tons of other material about various aspects of the game and deserve every credit he gets!

Thanks for the praise, queenEm. :3 I had a lot of fun writing all my guides and it's really awesome to see that people still remember them and got some use out of them.

Grimm, the first couple versions of the guide were actually called "Skelliemancer". It was only after lots of people on this forum started calling it a Fishymancer that I put that name in the later iterations of the guide.
