    stormshield on a smiter?

SS gives a huge chunk of DR, which opens up a lot of other gear options. with grief around, the dmg loss wouldn't be so bad. so what do u think...is it viable?

SS doesn't give consistant dmg like up'd hoz. Though it would still work well.

12-34 smite dmg. consistency shouldn't be much of a problem either since the difference is so small. a smiter with SS will have lower dmg than one with upped HoZ, but since u don't have to use berber CoA to get DR, u could pop ED jewels in the shield and helm to make up for the dmg loss. there's also fortitude.

anyone else wanna post some suggestions?

I thought about that same setup.....verdunogs/stormshield...with fort and ed helm....my only problem is that I still think any smite setup without EXILE is inferior. I've dueled many smiters and my friends and I have basically come to the same conclusion. On the otherhand, for those who detest exile in general, i agree that this setup will add more damage than the typical coa/enigma/hoz setup. You do lose alot of plus skills with the ss/ed jewel'd setup, but assuming that you can reach the required level for fanat to hit 6fps, the extra ed should make up for the lost skills....and then some!

On Non ladder storm is not really viable with the exception of pal vs pal duels.

On ladder storm is a great alternative because of the "Grief" runeword. Smite damage on shields isn't a major factor anymore.

Also a v/t and other smiter variants a exile would be inferior.

Hey old timer nice to see you once in awhile visiting these forums!!

Just to let you know this weapon

    http://users.aol.com/drwho74/griefzerk.jpg

just gives a v/t about 3x that damage that you remember having.

SSVT will be needed v/t vs v/t if both are using grief.

Oh why do I bothering telling you this gibberish...you don't play anyway. :p
    sigh
