    Starting an East Clan

    Background:
I have found that even though hardcore is more fun than softcore, it is harder to group up simply because of PK. So after being PK’d a couple of times I wised up and stuck to private games because honestly who wants to lose hours of work to one bored PKer.

So I wondered how I could group up and still play with people, and finally I came up with the idea of joining a clan. So when I looked for a clan all I could find was op xbananax and op ehc. These are good channels, no doubt, but it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for… So with no other clans, I decided to create a clan to gather hardcore players together in a social, safe environment.

    Clan Basics:
    Name: Brotherhood of Steel
    Clan Tag: BoS-[CharacterName]
I feel that there is no need to tag someone’s account, especially since some people have played on the same account all their d2 career; however, only characters with the BoS tag can be used for anything clan related like baal runs.
    Clan Channel: Op Brotherhood
I will be looking for a good channel bot once the clan grows.
    Website: http://www.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?GuildID=319425
I felt a simple website would be sufficient for any Diablo II clan seeing as it isn’t as complicated as running a guild on say World of Warcraft. All basic things are covered in the website.
Ventrillo: There is a vent that can hold up to 25 people, but it will not be released to the public.
Leaders: I am looking for some good leaders for the clan to patrol and set good examples. Right now I am looking for "council members"-members with improved privileges. Eventually I'll start recruiting officers, which is even higher than a council member.
Members: Looking for any east hardcore people with good attitudes.

    Notes:
I chose the name “Broterhood of Steel” because it seems to fit: a group of strong players helping each other; however, if the general census is against the name I might consider another game. The actual clan is important to me, not the name.

If you are interested in joining: say that you would like to join, post your battle.net account, and make an account on the clan forum. Your account on the clan forum must match your battle.net account, not your diii.net account.

If anyone has any questions there is more information on the clan forums, or one can send me a PM.

    Question -- not a dig.

You wrote that you're going to be making a channel bot; that implies you're deviating from op xbananax/ehc. Isn't that a stack counterintuitive, since you're most likely sourcing your players primarily from these channels you frequent -- and as such, thinning the already sparse crowds of would-be 'trustworthy' players?

Official banana stance is: leave him be.
I'm not one to stand in the way of change or new ideas. Who knows, we could all be in his clan in a few months! :scratchchin:

@PrimeEvil, good luck and I hope it works out to be fun for you. Don't burn your bridges. And I ask, please do not actively recruit in the banana channel... among other things, that will just be annoying.

Now I vote we refrain from derailing/spamming his thread anymore.

    Re: Starting an East Clan

I say I will be providing a channel bot because I wanted to offer all members the perks of a good clan. I assure you my motives were not to take away from op xbananax or op ehc, it was only to supply the members with a clan channel that they could visit or ask the bot about what games are going on. I felt a website, a vent, and a channel would cover all the basics of what a clan would need for its members to keep contact easily. I couldn't care less if the members decided op xbananax or op ehc was a better channel to chill in. It would save me from having to buy another set of CD keys and figure out how to use a channel bot.

Haha, yes you are in jayhawkfan. Also to any future members, when you sign up on the clan's website forum as your battle.net account-not your diii.net name.

Would be cooler if everyone would call it tribes instead of clans or guilds.

Depending upon the hours most will be able to play I may try & join you. I can say that I think there is a place for "clans". I have found for the sporadic player that trying to participate in regular games by hanging out in the banana channel is iffy at best. Normally there are a couple of players in channel and they seem to be afk the majority of the time. I am sure they are fine folks but it can be real hard to get a game going a lot of the time.

    @ Zelator
Well clan, tribe, or guild-it's the same thing. A group of people helping each other out and having fun.

    @ Wolfedude
Yeah that is the main reason I am starting a clan, I could never find anyone to play with. If nothing else, a clan would provide someone else to play with. But if you have any questions about the clan wolfedude, feel free to PM me.

I'll join in! Unfortunatly I already have a character started up so I cant wear the tag, but I wouldn't mind putting it in my Info. (when you right click in a chat channel). A close friend of mine started hc with me too, we could use some people to play with!

    Re: Starting an East Clan

Well abstand sign up on the clan forums as abstand and I'll talk to you there or in game. My clan forum account is BoS-Primal (because that will be my account whenever i get a channel bot), but until then my battle.net account is Brotherhood.

    Re: Starting an East Clan

Well that is very good darkfear. At first I was disappointed in the lack of responses, but now I have actually gotten a few interested people-which is a relief. So I approved your battle.net account-I assumed it was darklordtheone since you did not post it here.

This clan is new and made at the end of a ladder so I wouldn't expect too much out of it right now; however, I am looking to start a few eventsmmostly untwinked ones, if we can get a few more players.

    Re: Starting an East Clan

I would absolutely love to join!

    Bnet account: Kiserai

I've been doing HC Ladder on East for years. I'm around most nights for big chunks of time. Please feel free to add me. I'm breaking right now until 1.13.

I tired to register on the site but it said my account name was taken, and I didn't want to create one that didn't match without running it by. :)

Well I'm not sure why it would be taken. Try once more and if it doesn't work just add 'bos-' to the front of it. But yeah thanks for running it by me.

I hate to rain on the party... but what stops a PKer from joining your clan? I've been tppked more than once on op eHC runs already.

    Re: Starting an East Clan

Why not have as a requirement that 2 members from this site to vouch for you to get in ... long time members or mods or Pals ... someone they have played with ... traded with ... or conversed with over a good period of time!

Also if a pker did get in they would only do it once before their cover was blown.

    Just an idea
