special charms

is there a special reason why gheeds grand charm and the anni have to be traded on the ground?
i have played D2 LoD for a few months now, some guy wanted to trade his gheeds for my arkaines valor and a andy helm, told me that it had to be traded on the ground, and he ended up bs'ing me.
I finally managed to grab a 25% magic find gheeds for 15pgems from someone who dont bs.
Thanx for any replies here.

The anni and gheeds charm can't be traded through the trade screen like a normal item. Unfortunatly, since the only way to trade these items is to drop them on the ground, alot of people can get scammed.

I think the idea was the Blizz didn't want to encourage people to trade those, but I have no idea why. It might also have something to do with the fact that you cannot have more than one on a character at any time, and potential bugs with that.

If you're looking to trade for an Anni or Gheeds, try here on these forums. The traders here are trustworthy (if they're not, they lose their credit and no one will trade with them), and you can set up to have the trade moderated by a third party.

It's because when the trade is finished the items end up in your inventory. If there would be a Gheeds or Anni in your inventory already, you'd be able to receive the boni from both of them. Which is not what Blizzard intended with the carrylimit of 1.

Of course, there are other ways of preventing this, but nobody at Blizzard opted to code them.

Indeed, like, in the event of trading a gheeds to someone who already has a gheeds, assume their inventory is full (cancel the trade).
