Spearazon/Fendazon Possible?

I'm looking to build a Spearazon (and only using a spear)

Hopefully using Fend as my main skill against large mobs

heres my skill:

20 valk
20 fend
20 Light Strike
dont know about the rest

Stat

Str: enough for equip
Dex: same as above
Vit: everything else
ERG: 0

No idea about equip

Any suggestions? I couldn't find any guides

I also hope to increase damage with a Might merc

Thanks

Put more points in D/A/E than you normally would with an amazon - since you have no shield and will be meleeing, you'll need that extra few % chance to escape unscathed.

Equipment... you'll probably want to decide between speed and damage. Pike types are high-damage but painfully slow, whilst the lower-damage spears tend to be lower damage but a bit faster.

Whilst I haven't yet tried them, it seems to me that the Amazon spears, generally speaking, are useless - they don't start spawning until Act 2 (!), and their damage is eclipsed by the regular spears... for what? +1 skills? Hmph.

Try using your Valk and Decoy (and merc) to break up packs, because Fend isn't too great if you're dead before finishing it. Take on 2-3 opponents at once, maximum.

With Fend being bugged, where if your first stab misses, the rest do as well, you'll have to have tactics and crowd control (namely, hiding behind your valk, merc, and decoy, then stabbing over their shoulders). Add in the general frailty of spearazons and you'll find you'll probably be better off with a Defiance or Holy freeze merc. Increase your damage with crushing blow instead. Hello Hone Sundan. :) Critical Strike would also help a lot here.

Lighting strike is bugged as well, where oftentimes it will "ground out" before it should. For PI's or dealing damage to groups, Charged Strike will probably serve you better, since even if you miss, the bolts are released and will hit monsters behind your target. Synergize CS with Power Strike and you'll be doing some sick lightning damage.

Don't forget your passives, especially Dodge and Avoid. Evade is less important because you won't be on the run that much, but the other two at around 50% each will almost make up for the lack of a shield. Especially important since they'll also make your valk stronger.

My $.02, at least. :D

I agree with everything spiral said, and just want to add that when picking a weapon, you want to be sure to look at a weapon's range too. Longer reach will allow you to strike sooner, and also let you hide behind your merc and valk better.

what about the skill impale?

it seems to do huge damage 700%+

would it be great against bosses?
impale is higly slow. you're already be using a slow weapon, don't use a slow attack. a good way to kill bosses is with Jab. the dmg doesn't make up for the super slow speed. try attacking demon imps with that attack and you'll know what i mean

Again, I have to vote for Charged Strike. Huge damage from each bolt, especially with one or two of the synergy skills maxed, and at slvl 20, each attack lets loose 7 bolts. And much, much faster than Impale. Impale will just get you killed because you'll never get off an attack before you yourself get smacked.
