    I'm not at all surprised by this. As the article mentioned, the reunion cost the west boatloads of money and the east has been hit with high unemployment. Not at all odd that people remember the good old days.

    I think that would be a surprise to many americans. all we hear about the falling of the wall is the good stuff...it's rare to hear something like this. It's especially surprising that such a significant percentage would feel that way on the east side. How was the communist system better for the east siders?

    It does seem odd, but I think re-seperating at this stage will cost more in the long-run then if they continue with the reunification.

    Billions spent on rebuilding, high unemployment, and a shrinking population? Hi, East Germany. Welcome to every other ex-Soviet state including Russia itself.

    Marx told those crazy kids it wouldn't work at their stage of development. It's almost as if the creator of something knew what he was talking about when he was discussing what he created.
