SP Boxer questions

I have an unarmed Barb here. He's at level 18 or so right now, and has not yet beaten Andariel...I want some advice on how to make a truly viable char out of him. I've been pouring points into Bash, since it can be used with no weapon; will that hold him through the game or should I start focusing on something else? Should I focus more on Strength or Vitality?

Since you're not using a weapon Strength won't be much help (it'll only let you wear better armour etc.) - 70-77 Str after items is plenty from that perspective. Putting points in Vitality is probably a better way to go.

Bash is probably one of the best skills for a boxing Barb since it adds flat damage as well, which will probably be more significant than +% damage. If you wanted to branch out a bit you could add War Cry later, but Bash is a good enough attack skill.

I've been thinking about a boxer so I'd love some advice too - I figured on going for Bash, some War Cry (for the stun) and Battle Orders, Iron Skin and Increased Speed.

Leap attack (at least one point) is a necessity for any barb, I'd have thought. But, does Concentrate work without weapon?

As for skills - I'd figured enough strength for gear, 100-150 Dex and the rest in Vit.

Crushing Blow will be your key to success. By removing a % of the monster HP when you attack when CB activates, it takes away a significant portion of the monster's life.

On a random thought, since Assassin's kick damage is based on their boots, why not have Punching barbs' damage be based on their gloves? Hehe...Steelrend's would be ever so popular...

it may not be in the spirit, but lets face it, without it you wont make it past duriel norm. go for elemental charms and jewels, and IAS. all these are very nice.

I care to differ :) My punch barb Tyson_II has defeated Meph and is about to enter A4. He doesn't have CB yet and does fine. I hope to craft up some gloves soon - problem is the clvl requirements are usually a little steep for an early character.

He's in the weaponless tourney, and has a Cold Mage sidekick (also weaponless) who freezes everything while Tyson shatters stuff :D I don't have my char in front of me right now, but seem to recall that I've focused on the warcries and use Concentrate/Bash to deal with tough situations (yes, Garant, Concentrate works without a weapon). By the way, this is a players1 kind of build.

I do. Believe me, I do. A few elemental charms, and I'm doing twice the damage. Remember, Joe_Louis here is only level 18; he hasn't beaten Normal Andariel yet. And in case anyone's wondering, he's SC. I'm not crazy enough to make my first SP Boxer HC.
