    Sound level issues

    Hi all.

It's a little tricky to describe this bug, as it's inconsistent. It seems like whenever I join a game, there's a >50% chance for the background sound level (i.e. the ambient noises) to leap up in volume as though the sound meter was maxed. SFX (attacking, tele, etc) obey the sound meter level, it's just the crickets chirping, fire crackling etc that are loud. If I go into options and move the Sound slider bar, and put it back to the same low level, the background noise gets quieter. It happens regardless of whether or not 3D sound/environmental effects are enabled.

It's getting kind of annoying - I like to keep D2 quiet. I don't imagine there's any fix, though. I'm pretty sure it's not a sound driver issue as it happens on both machines I use.
