Sorcy attack spell ideas
I've decided to make an Energy Shield sorcy after reading Zarhrezz's guide, and having no other ideas of my own. I've made it to Act4 Normal, just killed Izual, and my offensive skills are limited to Static Field (a must for every sorcy), Charged Bolt, Telekinesis (haha), Lightning, and Chain Lightning. Basically, I took the pre-reqs for ES, as I knew I'd need them, I took Static, because it rocks, and I've got 10 in Warmth, because when your life is essentially your mana pool, it is a good idea to replenish it as fast as possible.
Now, my issue: After spending the points necessary to max both TK and ES, as well as one in Static and 10 in Warmth, that will have used 55 points. Aiming for a more or less complete build at level 80-ish, that leaves 36 skills (79 level-ups plus 12 from quests minus 55), less if I want more in Warmth (as I think I do). What, then, should I use as offensive spell(s)? I could go with Chain Lightning; as I already have it, it will only cost another 19 points to max out, then I can pump Lightning Mastery a bit, and maybe drop a couple in synergies (or maybe boosting Static would be better, dunno). Of course, this leaves me with only one element to attack with.
Alternatively, I could grab another element, preferably something with few or no synergies (ie Firewall), max it, and only put a couple in the mastery, while maxing CL and dropping a couple points into LM. This means less vulnerability to immunes, but a generally slower kill speed.
A third option would be a hybrid build. If I'm pumping Warmth anyways, why not take Enchant, and make a semi-enchantress build? This will cost less skill points, and while not as focussed as a dedicated enchantress, this would only be used for enemies impervious to my main attack (probably CL, as above). The major downside I see to this approach is the need for points in Dex; every point here means less in Energy, which means less mana.
Pity freezing monsters isn't like Stone Curse from Diablo, where the character had a 95% to-hit against petrified foes. If it worked like that, I'd go with Glacial Spike and Enchant, and have a blast.
Anyways, does anybody have any opinions/suggestions on what course I should take? I'm getting the sneaking suspicion that I need to decide soon; slvl 6 Chain Lightning (with gear) isn't going to do the job for much longer.
