Maybe if I hadn't heard Stairway to Heaven or Babe I'm Gonna Leave You in years and I heard them again I'd get that kind of feeling. Only on occasion am I really thunderstruck by a song, though. You kinda have to be in the right mood and taken by surprise by the song. Mostly Led Zeppelin gets me though.

The only real time that I've ever been struck dead by a song is when I was listening to D'yer Mak'er for the first time. It was kind of profound, how out-of the blue it was, and the parallels I could draw from myself to the song.

There's also a few songs that don't strike you on an emotional level but instead bring some adrenaline for no apparent reason. Southern Man by Neil Young was one. It's a really good song... Neil Young is a great song writer.

Then there's a few songs that are just rockin' beyond belief. They tend to get you every time. Over the Hills and Far Away, Stairway to Heaven, and My Generation are such songs to me.
I run your line, comrad.
For me it was the first time I heard No Quarter, what a song.

Two songs by Ben Folds that make me want to tear up are The Luckiest and Brick. The Luckiest is the best love song ever written for one reason. The Luckiest is down to earth, no candlelight dinners or talk about romance.. it's real. Brick is about when him and his girl had to get an abortion in high school. Really touching songs...

Shinedown - 45 is a good one too. Even better if you can find a GOOD acoustic version of it.
Jackpot. :hanky:

Alkaline Trio - Radio
'' - Goodbye forever

It's Raining Men- The Weather Girls
Or the theme song from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy

Both get me every time, I just have to put on some lip stick when I hear either of them.

Blue from Cowboy Bebop always gets me teary eyed if I'm in the right mood. So Long Space Cowboy from Cowboy Bebop used to do that to me too but not so much anymore.

Swallowed by Bush is another song that just gets me for some reason.

In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3 by Coheed and Cambria doesn't make my heart get ripped out but it evokes really strong emotions in me.

Of course the one song that I absolutely CANNOT hear without getting at least a little bit misty is Green Bird from Cowboy Bebop.

There's a few others that stir emotions in me but they've already been mentioned here.

"Fault" by Imperative Reaction

Aside from pretty much echoing how I've felt for the past 5 years (for reasons best left for a therapist) I was listening to it all day before I found out my father died.

that song is awesome, played it in HS marching band, so I imagine it has a substantially different impact on me
