Song(s) of the week (6/8/05)

Ocean's 12 has such an awesome soundtrack. But the best song from the movie isn't on the actual album! (the song from the laser dance scene, which is the first on my list below)

Nikkfurie - The A La Menthe
David Holmes - Yen on a Carousel
David Holmes - $165 Million Plus Interest/The Roundup
The Sounds - Rock 'n Roll
The Killers - Andy, You're A Star
The Killers - Smile Like You Mean It
The Killers - All These Things That I've Done

Are these off the new CD? And if so, are they any good?

I'm pretty deep into the new Alkaline Trio CD, Crimson, so that's where mine are coming from.

Alkaline Trio - Sadie
Alkaline Trio - Back to Hell
Alkaline Trio - Burn
Alkaline Trio - Deathbed

Nah, I make a point of listening to music I think is bad ;).

But in all seriousness, if you're looking for more of the Stay Wth Me/Letters to You/Without You Here Finch, then you'll probably be a little let down. If you were more into the New Beginnings/Project Mayhem/What It Is to Burn Finch, then you'll probably find the new CD quite to your liking. Actually, that last category doesn't quite capture it, either. It's a much more refined, mature sound. Kinda prog-y, very unique. Very much different from WIITB. I dunno, shoot me and IM if you want a sampler before buying.

I have listened to some In Flames cd's as well, but can anyone recommend which ones are truly worth buying?
I really enjoyed 'Whoracle', and liked what I heard of 'Clayman'.

Nazareth - Hair of the Dog
Mudvayne - Happy?
Mudvayne - Pulling the String
Blood for Blood - So Common, So Cheap

Yah, they've taken a turn for faster music on the new CD. They sound like they have a bit of Thrice influence in them now. Kind of a hardcore-punk sound instead of an emo-punk sound. WIITB was better, but SHTS isn't bad.

Heh, ask a stupid question...

I'm glad to hear that it's good. I was always more in the vein of Ender/What It Is To Burn than the slower stuff, but some of the Project Mayhem was over the top screaming for me. I think I'll get it anyway because the lead singer can really rip it and I've liked almost all of their stuff anyways. Thanks for the additional info.
