I got some good old cds this week from artists that I never touched before, and I highly recommend anybody who also has not listened to these artists to try them out.

Velvet Underground & Nico
Depeche Mode - Violator

As an addition to these two bands, I must add that Elvis Costello is a glorious artist as well as Gram Parsons in the alt. country side of things.

Personal Jesus from Depeche Mode is a standout from Violator and everything on Velvet Underground's album is top notch.

Nine Inch Nails - Sunspots

Anyone else heard/like the new NIN album? The Hand That Feeds is alright, but definitely not my favorite track.

I don't kiss and tell.

Quite good though. :p

Dude, that's 4 straight hours of one song. WTF?!?
You're talking to a man who has listened to ToS over a thousand times, 4 hours straight is nothing. 2.4133333 of nothing but ToS.

Yes, here's what I said about it in another thread:
NIN - With Teeth

Personally, I think it's a great album, I dont think there's a song I dont like.
It's different than previous albums, a lot more 'catchy' and 'standard'. I can see how many fans dislike it. But personally I think the music is what counts in the end, and it's good. It's a lot more political than any of their other albums, but in the time we live in, that's only natural.
Great alubm in my opinion, it's been in my player since I bought it.
I think sunspots is probably my favorite track.

I completely agree with that. I haven't heard the entire CD, but what I have heard is pretty nice. The Hand That Feeds grows on you.. but Sunspots is still way better.

Alright Tech, time for you to introduce a Dream Theater virgin to seemingly one of your favorite bands.

What one album should I start with to introduce me to the group and give me a taste of what they are about? I was looking at Metropolis Pt. 2. How do you suppose that would work as an introduction to the group?
