Sometimes you just needed a break

Currently playing 1.07. *shudders* If it wasn't for my shear pig-headedness I'd have given up weeks ago!!!! The endless tedium that was D3 was good practice for 1.07 though.

Hey, 1.07 is great for the feeling of giddy excitement when seeing green Heavy Boots or Quilted Armor drop - haven't felt that way in a long time. Exploiting the poison stacking for twinking weapons is pretty fun, too. Already made a couple bugged MPK rings, but the long-haul goal is 1.07 Arkaine's Valor for my planned Dual Dream Melee Sorc.

Why haven't you done the logical thing and just posted the link instead of PMing it to people?

I took breaks from D2 over the years with Medieval 2, Continuum, and now some Star Wars games. I didn't buy D3 because it was obvious it was going to be crap (and when I found out you had to go online to play SP, I knew I had made the right choice) and because I wasn't bored of D2 yet. That was three or four years ago. I am still not bored of D2, as there are many characters I have to finish and make and many items to find for them. D3 is junk, with WOW graphics and WOW gameplay.

I didn't post the link because alot of the players on the other site use mods not compatible with SPF. I don't know if there are links or info for those mods on the other site. I err on the side of caution.

I agree that D3 is not the game-to-end-all-games I had hoped for, but it always makes me laugh when I see people make statements like yours. Never bought the game yet you are somehow still an expert on its content.

I have been playing quite a lot of both lately, and I am actually enjoying both. Not sure if thats against some sort of rule or code or something.

D3 is fun for awhile. The combat is actually superior to D2 IMO, it just doesn't have much replayability. The items, while slightly improved with the xpac, are largely pretty lame, and the itemization system is dull and boring.

Do i think i wasted my money buying the game? No. I even recovered that and made some green selling extra stuff on the RMAH. Is the quality of D3 on par with D2? No, not even remotely close. But only a handful of games every made are in that stratosphere.

edistotiger, I agree the combat as superior but I would hope so for a game release what...12 years later? I think D3's biggest hurdle is trying to live up to the high expectations everyone had after an epic like D2. D2 is an incredibly tough act to follow. I didn't actually make money off the RMAH, but I at least paid for vanilla + RoS. Next xpac is coming out of my pocket, but thats ok. I have gotten plenty of entertainment value to justify the money even if its not the game we wish it was.

Good one noisemaker, appropriate name.

D2 'ubers' are really rubbish tbh. They can all be done with Crushing blow + life tap. Don't waste your time with 'em.
If you want really challenging ubers, you can give Median XL a try. Dozens of really challenging end game uberquests, all of them unique. It will take a lot of time investment though..

I did try median several years ago and it was pretty interesting. I can imagine median uberquests being challenging, the game itself isn't a cakewalk even using cookiecutter builds. That was my only foray into modded D2 aside from using the RWM text file.

I started an untwinked HC poison necro. Thats challenging enough for me at the moment. I just need something entertaining to do for an hour or so each day, and D2 fits the bill nicely.
