Sometimes I wish I could kick myself

in the (_I_)

I was goin thru a few mules and found an offensive charm I forgot I traded for. So thinkin to xfer it to my pally, I quick make a norm game w/ my 2nd pc and throw down the charm on my first pc. I quick leave n pop into my norm game w/ my pally, only to find.......

Yep. No charm. I threw it down in a game I had just random letters for a name - thinkin for some odd reason I was in the norm game - and left. Sad thing is, thats not the first time that happened. Alzheimers kickin in mebbe.....oi

Also had a slightly strange occurrence. Someone popped into my private game (the game name n pw weren't difficult), ran over to the spot I had dropped a random ammy and forstburns, snatched em up, and left. Now if thats not a WTF, I dunno what is. I'm just glad I had already picked up the valuable stuff I was xferring.

Lesson learned...do a better job pwing games :cheesy:

My brother joined some totaly random public game once thinking it was his friends private game, and threw down 3 combat GCs. Once he realized what he had done he typed /f m WHAT GAME WAS I JUST IN.

That kind of happened to me once the very first time I tried to solo mule.

Up until a few months ago, I just made 1 player, no PW games to solo in and at the time needed to xfer The Impaler (don't laugh heh). So.. I waited the alotted time & left when suddenly it said "Game is full". I don't know if it was because I lagged out or someone managed to get in before me (in about 5 seconds, but then again that's about the time it takes for the average bnetter to smell a free, unguarded item) but.. gah. From now on it's only pw games for me, heh. :cheesy:

Heh, thats happened to me a lot of times. Since I'm so used to the game/password I normally use for xfering and to typing in a random gamename/password, I sometimes 'mix them up' a bit.

I make games with random passes and names a lot, if I want to see the items I have on a character, or if I want to test out a char's skills, or something small of that sort. So sometimes, while xfering, I may leave the game and go to a random one, drop the items there and forget that it's a random game.

About the guy comin in and snatching items...

The exact same thing happened to me, me and my friends were muling, our usual game name///pass, we had..nats armor, tals armor, and a few low-mid lvl unqs on the ground, all of a sudden someone came in, and just picked up everything, and left....we sat there dumbfounded for a minute, then the cussing game, and then I thought...Ah hell NO, that aint happenin, so I went and got his screeny, and added him to f/l, found him in a chat room. Heres where it gets funny, started spamming that I needed help xfering bad, no one responded, so I whispered him directly, asked for some help xfering (pubbie bnetters do this all the time). Well of course he was more than happy to help me, so we went in a game, and I threw down...manald, and a crappy rare, just incase he did take, I wasnt going to be that mad. Then came back with dif char and picked em up. I told him that he seemed real nice for not taking my items, and asked to add him to f/l, heres his exact words...

*stealer*- I am not nice....
*me*- what do you mean?
*stealer*- i have been taking peoples items and i feel kinda bad
*me*- well why you doing that, and how, i mean like pubbie games, or what?
*stealer*- all, pubbie, private..
*me*- do you know the people?
*stealer*- not usually..
*me*- well, I spose your not nice then after all
*stealer*- yea, hey you want this ammy? (something he had stole from someone else)
*me*- sure, this would go great on my asn (ammy was +2 traps, 13 all resists, lvl 2 tele 30 charges
*stealer*- *pauses*
*me* thanks man, Im out, later
*stealer* wait, I have these too, just took em from some guy..*drops tals and nats armor*
*me* wow, thats some nice stuff, bet he was pretty mad
*stealer*- yea probably..
*me*- *picks up items* thanks again

*me* - Leaves

Funniest stuff I have seen in awhile, not only did I get my stuff back, but that ammy was pretty cool too.

Dont give up till the fat lady sings!

I sometimes wonder if he knew it was me, but oh well

I wanted to kick myself last night. I was fighting the high council in Travincal with my werewolf druid. One boss had mana burn so I tried to switch over to normal attack, which I have hotkeyed. But without thinking I had werewolf skill on and unshifted instead, I got killed rightaway... AAAHHHH !!!! Good thing it wasnt hardcore though, but I was still pissed.

Also, can anyone answer this: Why can paladins do normal attacks with zeal when they dont have enough mana while druids cant do the same with fury ??? Its damn annoying. Thats the reason I have normal attack hotkeyed with my druid.

ON a similar hotkey note....

Dontcha love how close the windows key is to the alt key?
*holds down alt while in the middle of killing boss pack to see what drops*
*accidently hits windows key instead*

*spend a few minutes walking back to corpse*

Indeed, I think I am getting old myself too and hopefully it's not Alzheimer's.

In the first few weeks of the ladder I finally managed to collect all the pieces of the Sigon's Set for my barb. So when I had enough str to use Sigs, I went in a game where I thought I had a mule game open (I have two computers) and it was actually a game I just created and forgot I just created. (Really weird how you can forget something you just did a few seconds earlier...)

I drop the entire Sig set from the mule character and immediately log off the game. Got my barb and joined the real game where my other mule was. There it struck me -- holy crap -- I dropped the Sig set in another game. I tried my luck to see if that shortly created game existed, it was no longer there...bye-bye Sig set...bye-bye first many hours of MFing or trading. :surprise:

You can bet that after that you'd think I've learned my lesson. Well, I didn't. It's happened again a few times with even more expensive items like a Shako. I guess I'm just getting too old -- or very careless.

heh - for me its definitely due to carelessness. The times you describe are the times I've already gone thru several mules seeing what I have. By then I'm on game-create autopilot and really don't pay much attention to what I'm doing.

I've probably done it 3-4 times myself too lol. All U can do is laugh after the irritation wears off....

And Damon. Yes, I have 2 diff cd keys. U can buy all 3 games for $30 now (doesn't come w/ Hellfire tho. Darn [/sarcasm])....

Same situation with amazons using guided arrow or strafe or multishot, can't shoot at all with no mana. Extremly annoying for ranged/spellcaster mana burners
