Something positive: Game difficulty seems to be alright.

I was able to play the stress test with a DH for a few minutes. Being annoyed by the 'noob friendly' features I wasn't expecting much.

However at the queen of the wretched mothers it released some exploding ice crystals after death, which did damage of about 1/2 of my initial health. Considering this is the first boss you encounter in the game it seems that completely reckless tactics will not work at any point of the game.

That is quite an improvement over DiabloII, I'm hooked.

I found the difficulty felt exactly right with my first Barbarian play through but way too easy with the Witch Doctor and Wizard.

My level 9 Barb is stupidly powerful in the first few quests now.

I don't remember Diablo 2 having such a massive power curve.

Because you were probably hoarding all your skill points, had no mana pool since adding stat points to energy was stupid and thus were most likely plucking at things with a gemmed long bow until level 30+

My barb ran into a Waller boss at a pretty early level. That was really exciting.

Quite some people have complained about the lack of difficulty in the Beta, but I think it's okay. I haven't died yet and have encountered just a few "oh crap" moments up to now, but if you consider that Diablo II in the first 13 character levels isn't really hard either, I'm fine with it. I suspect a bigger difficulty further in the game, and I haven't tried HC yet.

Oh btw I died twice with the wizard at at the skeleton king.
It is grossly overpowered against the regular groups which come before, solo 4 player is possible without sweating.

My DH just died twice to the Pillars event. Though I was doing a "challenge" playthrough by having no armor, not using pots, and the crappy build of HA/Impale/Smoke Screen, I wasn't expecting those archers to hurt quite so much. Good times.

3 level 13's and one soon to be level 13. Haven't died yet and i think i have used total 1 potion.

I would say the beta is extremely easy, but that is to be expected.

There is little challenge. They even guide you to the quest locations. It's like for 10 year olds.

There's nothing wrong from a quest location guide IMO. There are new players too, not 10 yr old. Please stop being an elitist.

I don't think xylotrupes is being an elitist I just think he is used to the way D2 was.

But I agree I don't really have an issue with it especially because so many people used map hacks anyways so I assume this is Blizzards way of trying to eliminate the need for map hacks.

I think the difficulty is definitely in the right place. You can't really judge it at all once your character passes level 8, because then you've effectively out-leveled the content and everything is naturally going to be stupid easy from that point forward.

I'd have to say that my first impression is that the beta was on the easy side because of the abundance of health orbs. I played for about 10 hours this weekend and used a health pot only once and never died. I felt that was not due to any measurable skill on my part, but the fact that when I ran into a mob of 20+ monsters, at least 3 health orbs dropped. Plenty enough to plow my way through anything without stopping.

Without a doubt this will be different in later acts and difficulties with stronger monsters, but those orbs made beta way too easy.

Haven't managed to die yet, but I did use 2 health potions during my four playthroughs (didn't have time to try out the demon hunter). On my monk I also managed to get my health low enough for the "dude use a potion" help popup to display.

The most challenging run you can do is a naked (with noob axe only) Barbarian run hitting the SK at around level 7.

    Give it a shot :D

If there is was only a '/players 4' option in the beta. loved the fact that you can do that in D2.

yes the beta was easier than we want, but for those new to the genre and Diablo it is about where it should be. I exloited repeating the quest line to get Deckard Cain until around level 6/7 the 3300 xp for finishing the quest really help level my character much faster. Wow should I have said that? blizzard might take that out.

There wasn't much difficulty after frame-drops due to DLing are factored out (effectively lag spikes). I never died to Leoric, and the occasion I did die in the Cathedral was on purpose to look at the rez mechanic. I understand it's early in the game, but darn was that boring.

Blizzard has stated many times that the first difficulty of D3 is meant as an introductory to the game and the story-line. It's supposed to be easy. It's prep for the rest of the game.
