Some interesting questions / thoughts...

Here's something interesting I came across this morning...

Scroll down after you have thought about the questions a bit (Don't spoil it!).

Question 1:
If you knew a woman who was pregnant, who had 8 kids already, three who were deaf, two who were blind, one mentally retarded, and she had syphilis, would you recommend that she have an abortion?

Read the next question before looking at the response for this one.

Question 2:
It is time to elect a new world leader, and only your vote counts. Here are the facts about the three candidates.

Candidate A.
Associates with crooked politicians, and consults with astrologist. He's had two mistresses. He also chain smokes and drinks 8 to 10 martinis a day.

Candidate B.
He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps until noon, used opium in college and drinks a quart of whiskey every evening.

Candidate C.
He is a decorated war hero. He's a vegetarian, doesn't smoke, drinks an occasional beer and never cheated on his wife.

Which of these candidates would be your choice?

Decide first... no peeking, then scroll down for the responce.

Candidate A is Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Candidate B is Winston Churchill.
Candidate C is Adolph Hitler.

And, by the way, on your answer to the abortion question: If you said YES, you just killed Beethoven.

Pretty interesting isn't it? Makes a person think before judging someone. Wait till you see the end of this, keep reading...

Never be afraid to try something new.

And Finally, can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 500 employees and has the following statistics:

* 29 have been accused of spousal abuse
* 7 have been arrested for fraud
* 19 have been accused of writing bad checks
* 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
* 3 have done time for assault
* 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
* 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
* 8 have been arrested for shoplifting
* 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
* 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year...

Can you guess which organization this is?

Give up yet?
It's the 535 members of the United States Congress. The same group that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the US in line.

Good huh?
Got it sent to me earlier by a friend and thought I'd share...

The path not taken

If I hadn't seen the second question before, I would have guessed C. I didn't actually know that Beethoven had other siblings with genetic problems (I knew that Beethoven had siblings but not that they had problems nor that his mother was afflicted with syphilis). I suppose the syphilis could have led to his eventual deafness (syphilis causes neurological damage in the third stage and that third stage can take years to develop).

Thanks for sharing, KnightFall.

It's lke checking my inbox 7 years ago! Actually, this one's pretty cool. Those congress stats are probbaly outdated, but the first two questions really give you something to think about. Thanks. :)

Hehe! I thought it might be a little dated!

Thought it might be of interest none the less...

Oh and Hitler rules and Beethoven's dead in my world.

And I just loved this :

I didn't give it to Hitler, just because I knew that was too good to be true. I don't know wether syphilis affects children so Ludwig is still in limbo.

I saw a show on the history channel the other night advancing the theories that Hitler 1) was addicted to amphedimines, and 2) suffered from advanced stages of syphillus. The VD theory had a lot of supposition, but the speed case was pretty well made.

The first few questions, while good in making us think about making judgements on people, really aren't very fair. They are hypocritical in and of themselves. Think about it.

The questions are asking us to make judgements based on very little information, and then chastise us for making a judgement based on very little information. ;) I realize that the exercise is designed to make us think about cursory judgements, but I thought that I would point that out... :D

And the statistics on congress... I remember seeing that quite some time ago... I suspect that the statistics are outdated... and a little misleading.

Good stuff to think about though.
