Some ideas for my V/T

So im building a V/T scince my experimental Dreamer/Vindicator was...well crap. The guide here on this forum is slightly outdated, and I have some new ideas that could use some feedback :). Its going to be a templar oriented V/T, using FoH as main attack to draw enemys close (or just kill them), then use smite as a finisher or main attack vs resist & absorb stackers. Skills would be something like: 20 FoH, 20 Holy Shock, 20 Holy Shield, 20 Fanatscism, and rest into Conviction (6 at lvl 90). Only 1 pt is Smite doesnt effect the damage too much scince its gonna be lvl 27 after BC & gear, and ill keep a Forti in stash if I need to buff smite vs sorbers.

The gear would be something like Shako w/ 15res +7 str jool, upped HoZ, eni AP 13xx, GreifZ 34/396, Bloodfists, sandstorm or tri resistance rare boots, maras, raven and Bk. Inv would be 9 pcs (cant afford more than clean), PalaT 15/15, anni 10/14 and a mix of ress/fhr scs and life scs. I need 55% ias to reach 6fps with the zerker with lvl 20 fana (35 ias), and Im gonna have 34 from Grief & 10 from Bf, where am i gonna get the last 11%? If i socket the HoZ with a 15ias jool ill be sacrificing resistance, i dought ill be able to afford a 15 ias 15 ress jool, is it worth sacrificing some ress for the last ias BP? Or is 7 fps just fine? Switching to 20ias craft or rare gloves would do the job (my fana gives 37% ias), but then i have to use a lot of FHR scs to reach 46%.

On switch the natural choice is 'Call to arms' Flail or Crystal Sword, with a pala spirit to boost BO. After browsing around on the Arreat Summit a while, i realized that CTA can be placed in any weapon. This opens up some new possibilitys for a V/T. So i was thinking, wouldnt the ultimate V/T switch be, instead of a CTA CS/Flail, a CTA in a 5s Scepter with +3 FoH and if possible +X to conviction paired with a HoZ with a light RBF? This boosts the FoH damage by +1k (more if the scepter has +conviction) without affecting the smite dmg ! This can be done by using other weapons on switch, but with 9pcs, you gotta skip CTA, which means about 1.5k or so less life. CTA gives +1 all skills, so a 3 FoH 3 Conv CTA would be one of the best FoH weapons in the game (dmg wise), the only one I know that is better is 5x5/5 Light RBFs in the same scepter. It could also be paied with a Spirit for better BO, but that would destroy much of the advantage of a FoH CTA. Any thoughts on this?

Max smite before holyshield for better smite damage (necessary to make up compromised skills on a t/v). 1pnt smite WILL be significantly less damage... 19 points goes a long way in Smite vs Holyshield

Using a fort from the stash is a silly idea and would require you to compromise stats to allow it.

Don't worry too much about base fhr on any smite variant. Sure it can be useful at times vs a select few classes (namely trappers... but a spirit in the stash for both fcr and the fhr is ace)

Go for tri-res boots with waterwalks in the stash. Some v/ts find well-stacked resistances tough to come by, even with life/res and maras. Keep a pally sanctuary in stash for blizzers / temple duels vs another foh-variant

I'd say ber the shako.

9 plain pcs is gonna kill your life and make your t/v almost worthless.... might wanna just try a pure smiter with all life scs =\

Try sanders gloves if you can't afford good ias/stat gloves. 20 ias and 40 life on something cheap as hell is rather QT. Though I'd still vote for a grief pb on a v/t.

All life scs. As said earlier don't bother with fhr scs.

FoH ctas are indeed the optimal t/v switch weapon. I had one though and in theory yeah, it's awesome. But I found I didn't often need to nor want to switch weapon slots like that for a duel. Depends how you play I guess.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. Yeah didnt think the forti switch thru, having an upped zaka i would need to put a lot of pts into str to be able to wear it w/o eni. The shako is already socketed with a great 7str/15res jool, so ill keep it in, but ill have a 15/35 dungos in the stash vs heavy physcial dmg users. Didnt know about smite vs Hs, thanks :). And I have a load of life charms laying around, so that'll be a lot cheaper than getting 9 pcs (probably will get a few anyway, just for the heck of it). When playing a paladin i usually use switch a lot, it helps scince its 1 key to change both attack and aura, which comes in handy.

On my v/t I have a foh stick cta and a 5/5 facet'd hoz on switch. Yes I have 124 less life than if I were to bo with spirit but its another little boost to the foh dmg (~500 more dmg than with spirit) and this way I don't lose max block when switching, as I don't have enough dex for max block with a spirit but I do with hoz. Just something to think about.

Wow, never thought about that, I heard the +4 pcombat skills on HoZ will boost your Holy Shield Defence and Chance to block, I guess its a nice sacrifice for big boost FOH damage/defence/block
