    Solo Sorc Build Assistance

Hi, I'm looking to build a new sorc following the demise of my VenjPally. I play solo now and with a lot of the sorc builds it takes to level 24-30 before you can really get them going. The thought of leeching all the way to level 30 for an orb sorc is a not useful for me.

As a solo player, I am after a sorc that can hold her own from the outset and will be reasonable for boss and cow runs for item gathering at the end game.

She'll have max block, Str to 70ish rest Vita. Playing HCL and have some +skill ammys for her later in the game (depends on skill tree).

Any suggestions? I know there's plenty of choice from the guides but I'm kind of after your own experiences and what you would go for.

    Thanks

With limited experience in Hardcore, I will try my best.

You're wanting a Sorceress who can run all parts of the game? In my mind that is a little more difficult. I find it's best to try and specialise your Magic Find characters.

    Blizzardess

This is either pure Cold (maxxing all synergies for Blizzard) or using Fire Wall as a support skill.

I've found that this build is excellent at:

    - Pindle
    - Cows
    - Mephisto
    - Ancient Tunnels (level 85 area)
    - The Masoleum (level 85 area)

The Blizzardess can run Baal, however, perhaps it's simply me but I've always had difficulty in the WSK with her.

    Meteorb

Here Meteor is the main skill with Orb the support skill.

    - Baal
    - Pindle
    - Mephisto
    - The Masoleum
    - The Pit

Just leveled my sourceress to levl 31 (Single player) as far as I can see you only need one point in static field and until level 24 I had no more than 1 point in any skill (apart from warmth - she's going to be an enchantress using Demon Limb) when i started Thunderstorm - which is not needed at the moment.

    Have Maxed block.

I have Sigorn's Shield (any tower/bone shield with decent blocking would be ok even a bought one), Crushflange (anything with CB will do), Manald's Heal (not needed but had it) Dusk Deep and Twitchtoe (nice but not necessarily).

Did everything on players 8 apart from Diablo.

Merc has a normal pike socketed with Am Tir, a noral elite armour and as et helm (the one with plus 30 to both fire and lightning).

This is my first 1.1Sourceress - I can't belive how good static field is. She kills faster than any melee character at this level.

I think it will get harder in NM and Hell with Static Field nerfed. Point I'm trying to make is that feel free to go for one of the late developing builds - its no probalem to get to the 30's where the big spells arrive.

After my first or second barb (hence my screen name <--- ), I switched over to Sorcs... sooo much easier for me to solo mass kill entire hordes.

I used to love playing cold/light tree sorcs cause the cold slowed the baddies down + lightning has INSANE damage points on 'paper'. Only problem though is light tree dies in Hell when you go against enemies with huge hit points, and there you are, firing off Lightning for the 10th time and only have the enemy down to 1/2 hit points!!! The low min damage of lightning/chain light is a tree killer :(

Just these past few months I switched over to the fire tree with a Meteorb sorc for the first time and LOVE it! I can pretty much solo TANK in NM now (lvl 80). I got to Hell @ lvl 60 and I was actually able to get to Hell Act 3 by myself so far!

So... from my experience, if you wanna solo, nothing wrong with a good ole Meteorb.

I use Frozen Orb as my main killer, then fall back to Fireball for the cold immunes. I've got 1 pt in Static, so I use that against cold/fire immunes if I feel like spending the time on them, get em down then let the merc finish them off. I really only use the Meteor for Meph/Boss runs.

As for the struggle to get to level 18 then 30. Eh, it's really not THAT bad. Enjoy the quests, no point in getting to 30 in a single day. Take your time :D

-Edit... just caught the fact you mentioned HCL :( Well... I haven't had that much experience over in that relm. However my softcore sorc has only died maybe 4 or 5 times... and they were easily avoidable for the most part, I was just getting a little too greedy with trying to speed thru a Council or what not.

Thanks all. I guess if I'm just patient all will be well! As I've not got any high level sorcs at all I think I might try the tried and tested Meteorb. At least once I get my Fireball I can look after myself then on in.

    Cheers

    Well, my two cents worth:
If you go meteor/orb why are you not putting skill points into the fire tree before lvl 30?
All pts should be going into Fireball as you lvl to get orb. Then all pts in orb until it's maxed, and back to leveling the fire tree.

    I agree with this.

And as for the meteorb in general, I found that it's best to level fireball first, and then finish off meteor and then firemastery.

This is my my own personal oppinion, but I only use meteor vs bosses. Fireball I use against cold immunes, cold orb vs everything else (pretty much). And a low fireball vs cold immunes is slow, where a high power fireball will take them out *very* fast and is much easier to aim than meteor.

Oh, fireball first... of the fire spells. Max frozen orb before maxing fireball :)

it just depends. when building a meteorb you have to decide how the exact balance of skills goes. i prefer the fire tree so when i built mine i maxed all the fire stuff before putting the 2nd point in orb. orb just got maxed out at lvl 83 or so.

my friend has a meteorb sorc that is the opposite. he likes the cold tree. i think he even pumped orb's synergy.

i just like fireball. i still remember my 09 fireball sorc. by the time she was in nm cows she could kill 4 with each fireball. mmmmmm
