Socketing

Hi all,
I was looking through some options for runewords and found the Honor Runeword to be well within range for me.

Thinking about putting it into an ettin exe.

My question is as follows:
If I larzuk an ettin axe, what are the odds of it actually getting 5os?

If I am correct chances of getting 5 socks in the cube is 2/6 = 1/3.
Are those chances betteer when Larzuking it?

Thanx in advance!

Other cheap runewords:

Passion (highest rune: Lem)
Crescent Moon (highest rune: Um)

And for an act 2 merc or a polearm-wielding character:

Insight (highest rune: Sol)
Obedience (highest rune: Fal)

My mercs are already wielding insights.

I was looking for the best WW barb runewords now and most of these are completely unaffordable for some time to come :badteeth:

I made 1 malice for him and am now aiming for an Honor. I will check those options you mentioned some more as well.

I start to think that thareaper is just screwing us Noobs. Only plain socketed items can be used for runewords.

Yeah, only white and grey items can contain runewords. I used to play a WW barb, and they can be expensive. Grief is a fantastic runeword, but with Mal and Lo, you're looking at 2 HRs or probably 100 Pgems (at least on Ladder East). Oath, though, is a great word that's pretty affordable. For the price of a Mal you get some righteous stats. It's indestructible as well, so you can slap that puppy into an ethereal sword for even more damage. Honor is a great mid-level weapon, but you could also pick up a Doombringer or a lightsabre for just a few pgems and start saving the rest of your currency for that Mal and an ethereal blade.

You cannot do the cube bug on weapons (the weapon will receive sockets but will not get a damage upgrade). That will only work with armors (and shields and hats).

This very question is at this moment a subject of discussion on the USWest trade forum. Eth armor gets a 50% def boost, so if one rolls sockets into it in the cube what would be the highest % of def increase that one could legitimately expect?

Also, if you roll the sockets in the cube I am under the impression that would make the item glitched, not bugged. Now as I understand the rules that would make it tradable on the site. Is this correct?

I do appollogize to all. I am not trying to hi jack the thread it just seems that you all are discussing basically the same issue I was following in the trade forum.

If you socket an ethereal armor using the cube, it will receive an additional 50% extra bonus on top of the original 50% bonus for being ethereal. In essence, the armor has the ethereal defense bonuses applied twice.

Evrae- Thank you. You are a most godly asset to this site. I appreciate your insights.

Yes, you can use the cube to socket it. It will get 1,2,3 or 4 sockets. 50% chance of 4 sockets, 1/6 chance each for the other three outcomes. Larzuk will put 4 sockets in it.
