    Socketing Runewords in Superior Items

    From the FAQ:

Do superior items keep their bonuses if they become Runic Items?
They should, but there are some reports of it not working correctly.

    From my bro:

    It doesn't matter.

So Im curious now, do superior items keep their bonusses or not(As in, is it worth it getting a superior item)

they keep the bonuses, such as +% ed, but with runewords with variable +%ed, then its added in to the displayed %. for example, a BOTD col blade with superior +15% ed, has the potential to get +415% ed. But if you make BOTD, and it shows something like 389%, then the 15% is added in allready. If it wasnt superior, it would have been a lower %.

Dont know if that helped at all, or if you could follow it. Basically, they keep their bonuses.

Also keep in mind that superior item runewords have EXTREME repair costs compared to non superior (regular) versions of the same runeword items. Something like a superior archon chains of honor would probably cost you a fortune just to repair a few durability points. May not matter for PvP but it will sure matter for PvM where you are getting hit a lot.

Also when socketed in a runeword like botd, the weapon does not display the item as superior the only way to know is by unsocketing it. Yes it does keep its properties after a runeword has been removed. I was a little concerened when I made my botd and it didn't say superior zerker, I thought maybe I had once chance or something. But I unsocketed it it and alas it was still superior (thank goodness).

Class-specific items also retain their auto-mods.

If you are going to be using the Superior BotD, stock up on ort runes.

Ort & Weapon in cube get's it repaired to 100%. Good as new! And, if you are going to be using the Superior... Make sure you put it in an Etheral item, which will be extremely difficult to find a 10-15% ED, Etheral, 6 socket weapon. However, it will be worth it. Because of the 50%ed bonus of Etheral Items.

Edit: Nevermind, BotD has zod in it making it indestructible... So don't regard the Ort part, and you don't need to worry about high repairing costs.

    Recipe:
Horadric Cube: Item + Hel-rune + scroll of town portal. (MELT)

Whatever is socketed in the item is lost however....

yes some people re-socketted their superior etherals to get a higher ed%.

my take on it is that some runewords add defense, other multiply base defense by a %.

for those that add defense, any armor is good. in fact, the cheaper the better because of req's and repair costs. for those that multiply, then superior makes a bigger difference.

for weapons, superior all the way.

Actually it seems to be the ethereal modifier: On armor it multiplies the base amount of ac with 1.5(When the item drops) but on weapons it will do this at runtime.
