Where could i find a formula to socket a weapon. I have a Cryptic axe and wanted to cube it to add sockets.

Short answer: Cube it with Amn + Ral + Pamethyst.

If you want its maximum of 5 sockets, use the Larzuk quest reward. He will add the maximum of sockets to nonmagical items. If you want it to have a lower number of sockets, use the cube recipe and you have a 1 in 6 chance to get that number.

so i'm assuming that if i want something like a 3os phase for crescent moon runeword i'll have to try my lucky with the cube way.
btw if u dont like the socketed item afterwards, can u recube it again to try to get it the way u want it or do u have to find another item that is white before u can try again (btw sry for posting questions in someone elses thread)

There is special "trick" for improving your odds of finding 3-socketed weapons. First, you need to find a Crude/Cracked version of the desired item type. Use the 'weapon + chippie + Eld rune' recipe to make the weapon normal (remove the Crude status). This recipe sets the item level to 1. That is good news, because no item type with ilvl 1 can have more than 3 sockets, which in turn means that you will have 2/3 chance to get 3 sockets with the recipe mentioned in this thread (and Larzuk will always make 3 sockets in it).

This is a great idea for socketing non-ethereal items. In case the OP is looking to socket an ethereal weapon, however, this method can't be used because ethereal items cannot spawn as low quality, cracked, or crude. Obviously, this will work for gorash because a phase is always non-ethereal.

AFAIK, phase blades can't be cracked because they are indestructible. I found 3 cracked BAs in this season, but not a single cracked phase blade which would surely have caught my eye because of the ilvl=1 issue of the repair resipe, guaranteeing 3 sockets.

i had also thought about phases being not able to be cracked, but was unsure whether they can be crude or not also...
Has anyone found a crude phase to support what i think here?
btw sry for all the kinda stupid questions i guess u could say. I'm not use to runewords or socketing things due to me sticking to uniques as gear lol
