I've picked it up a couple times. Nothing special really, especially because of the arctic blast damage issue. But, the huge cold damage is kinda nice.
The above two posters are talking about the Frostwind cryptic sword, which does indeed exist.
There is no Frostwind champion axe.
Check this link, this is where the rumor all started from :
This is of course a pure joke, April's Fools, or whatever  !
This weapon is Messerschmidt's Reaver and nothing else.
Sorry to disappoint you, but the listed weapon doesn't exist :thanks: !
Never seen that. Funny thing, really. Amazed they had enough fantasy to say 100% cb and +3skills along with 65%ias and 4 sockets. Couldnt they just have added 5004%ed too?
Grml, they need to work on their jokes so people actually ARE tricked, and never ask if they understood it right
Mermans spocket, anyone?
These items may have been in the beta, though few found them because of the how high they were in TC. They are both elite uniques and both most likely were in the beta 1.10 version and didn't make it into the 1.10 final.
Diabloii.net usually gives away the april fools joke they posted after the day has past, there is a listing of the jokes they have played, I don't remember seeing any "items listing" being posted as a joke.
1 thing that amazes me is that i still see people spamming for mermans in the trade channels
They were not in the beta. The MPQ files of both 1.10 betas are fully dug through like all the others. Frostwind has never been anything but a Cryptic Sword and Merman's Sprocket is just a blank line with a place-holder name.
It was a joke by someone in marketing at Blizzard to get kiddies who don't understand what game balance means all excited about how uber the new items would be in 1.10. Diabloii.net believed it, they didn't come up with it.
If you actually look at the stats for Merman's and Frostwind Champ you'll see right away they aren't for real. C'mon now. Crazy stats.
