So I'm Remaking My MF Sorc

I noticed today that when I use my mf sorc I die a fair amount so I switched my mf ammulet and nagels to a Mara's and 2xSojs. Doing better, but still seem to have a massive lack of life. The points in vit are rather low because I made a 4 ist monarch to use and so my strength had to be that high.

Now I'm considering going base strength (or as base as possible) so that I can have more points to throw around into life.

It's looking like I won't even be able to equip most of my items until I reach level 70 to use an anni to put on a breast plate enigma to allow me to use all the other items requiring strength. This is going to make leveling very difficult.

For some reason I can't think of anyways around holding back virtually all of my gear until level 70, please help me.

What type of sorc are you going to build? I use a (yes its sad) blizz sorc to mf with and she wears either skulders/bad rare ammy/goldwrap or 3 piece tals always with 2x 30% nagels. She stays alive easy because of her distance and tele'ing. As for leving, the same applies, with distance its easy to stay alive during ball runs and such, especially with a blizz sorc...

P.S. What lvl is your Pally at now?

Just get some small life charms instead of remaking the old sorc or MF with a friend who will tank for you and share the drops.

91.8 or so. He's on the reserve list for awhile because everyone running with me fell out, and I absolutely refuse to do pubby runs.

I don't believe the strength you put in for the Isted shield is the problem. I run with a max-block Storm, which sinks a lot of points into dexterity besides the few extra strength points required. What are her vit, life, resists, block, pdr, fcr, fhr, etc?

Dying takes the fun out of your MF runs, I'm sure. Are u using a merc? Get one which can tank or you - top choices here would be Act 2 Defiance, Act 2 HF or Act 5 barb merc. Even with low vit, and low blocking, if your resists are maxed, you shouldnt be dying that often. Unless you've messed up her build big time with bad skill allocations.

Levelling shd be cakewalk for sorcs. Baal runs in Normal until lvl 45-50, followed by NM Arcane runs, tomb runs, Travincal runs. By this time your sorc shd be in the 60s. Join a multiplayer game to take out Diablo & clear out Act 5 Ancients & you're there at lvl 70, at least.

You want to lvl NOT MF so ditch those gears which don't help you lvl. There will be time for MF later. My pick for low-Mid lvl gear (good even in Hell) :-

Helm: Peasant Crown (nice +vitality but no resists) /Rockstopper (if u need resists badly)
Armor: Skin of Vipermagi (fantastic armor), Duriel's ( one of my favorite all rounder)
Belt: Nightsmoke (upgraded if possible) or TGods or any gd rares with FHR, resists, life.
Gloves: Magefists / Trang's / Frostburn
Boots: anything with 20+ FRW/resists/FHR
Weapon: Wiz spike (all the resists u need + mad FCR), or Suicide Branch or rare orb with +2 Skills, 20 FCR, gd resists, + specific skills

Merc gear:
Helm: Tal's mask / Crown of Thieves
Armor: Duriel's Shell (best underrated armor)
Weapon: Hone Sundan / Kelpie Snare / Blackleach/ anything with gd LL & decent dmg

No offense but it's kinda downright laughable that someone who has elite gear like Enigma & 4-Ist'd monarch has problems leveling characters. :flip:

"Blame the player not the gear" as my friend used to say. Imho, the best way to learn the art of survival is to play HC, untwinked.

When did I ever say I had problems leveling characters?

I was just asking for the advice of making my MFer a bit more viable.

Levelling shd be cakewalk for sorcs. Blah, blah, blah, spewing more crap
If I wanted a leveling guide I would have asked for one.

The purpose of my Sorc is not to level, it is to MF. I stated this clearly.

There will be time for MF later.
Your right, that time is now.

Imho, the best way to learn the art of survival is to play HC, untwinked.
Been there, done that. 1 Account of completely untwinked Patriarchs/Matriarch/Slayers and another of mules.

Your post could possibly be the least helpful post I have ever read during my times on these forums, I suggest next time you fully read a query before answering.

------------------------------------------

As to everyone who actually made suggestions, I appreciate it and here is the break down of the old against the new.

OLD
130 Base Strength
75 Base Dex
Everything else in Vit.
Nothing in Energy.

New
112 Base Strength
35 Base Dex
Everything else in Vit.
75 in Energy

Skills are basically the same.

Items I switched the 45% amulet for a 26% Mara's and the Two Nagels for a BK Ring and SOJ.

9 MF Charms were replaced with 3 cold skillers with +35 or more life and 7 more with Shimmering Small Charms of Vita to finish off my resists. Everything else has been left to MF Charms and the cube.

I dropped from a touch over 900 MF to a touch under 800, but I haven't died with her since I hit level 90 and left Baal, so I'm happy with it.

Thanks to most of your inputs.

You really won't notice much difference in the drops going from 900 MF to 800 MF.
You are right, I haven't really I downloaded the ATMA program a while back and fiddled with the drop calculator, the drop difference from 800 to 900 is 5% better chance to find a unique. Not worth dying ever 20 or 30 runs IMO.

One of the bigger differences is now I have about 100 more mana and 350 more life. Taking me to 800 mana and 1200 life. Roughly.
