So, I'm kicking around the idea of a dual element PVP druid...

...wondering if versatility can make up for less damage.

the skills im thinking of -

20 volcano
20 molten boulder
20 twister
20 tornado
20 hurricane
1ravens
1spirit wolves
1oak
1 all reqs

finished @ 96
would max hurricane last

"What? No fissure?" <- I'm sure you're asking. I'm trying to capitalize on the ele druids biggest strength: physical damage spells.

"What? No Cyclone Armor?" - without being fully synergized, it barely takes one Fireball, and no hurricane hurts your twister damage.

the gear I'm eyeing:

shako - ber
maras or rare
enigma
2x spirit
arachs
for rings i would use ravens/dwarfs/wisps for w/e element i need to resist as i have low base res.
magefists
aldurs or rare
cta + spirit on switch
torch/anni/9 ele gcs use res charms to make up for the lack from gear.
this gives 16 (counting Battle Command) all skills and 25 total to ele (26 fire).

i tried to get the most skills i could and still hit the fcr and fhr bps with gear.

obviously the weak spots are resists and %dr (no block obviously, I'm used to sorcs, and dont always use block - wasn't sure if it was necessary on a druid.). any suggested improvements are appreciated.

I really like the idea of being able to have a long range timered spell that puts chars in block-lock etc, and a spammable spell as well.

let me know what you think!

it's been a while, but i think even a lvl 1 cyclone will absorb all of one fireball even if the damage is 10 times more damage than what's listed the armor will take.

@Rawness: I'm not planning on using MB as an attack. the point of it is to synergize the phys damage from volcano.

@CDM: hey, cool! i had assumed that either the leftover damage affected you with w/e res you have, or that your res stayed 0 for the leftover. very nice.

anyone have any comments on gear selection?

damage from volcano.
240 %

and no hurricane hurts your twister damage.
Oh yes. Indeedy. I do not see the point thou, the damage

will be about:
+20 skills each ball does 877-884 physical
Let's say you'll have.... 1000 damage with those 6-7 more points in druids skills... then count the PvP penalty... then count the huge possiblity of the dueler having DR%. + the spells are timered.
Then think of the new possiblity of sorcs and other elementals r***** you. Oh Yes.

Average Volcano damage (physical) after pvp penalty (1/6th right?) = 181
with 50% dr damage becomes 90.5 per ball. absolutely puny! but still bigger than what fissure becomes after 75 res + dwarf or two.

the main point of volcano here is to blocklock/herd

Really looking at the build as a whole, i have almost the same damage potential as a normal windy (tornado is lacking a synergy), + a long range attack that can stop block chars in their tracks.

I like this build, And the stunning capabilities of volcano are really underestimated. I was thinking it might work a little better to go 20 Cyclone/1 Twister or 10/10 split? Even with +Skills, without more hard points into cyclone, you're looking at a 12 second hurricane. With 10/10 You get a 30 second Hurricane with a drop of roughly 600 damage and 300 damage gained on your cyclone armor. Also, maybe Ravenlore instead of Shako? I'm working on a hybrid myself, but probably more with the fire skills as my main, not sure if it will work, but its pretty fun so far.

I'm really not counting on hurricane for much damage, maxing it just for the synergy bonus.
and if CDM above is correct, then 300 extra damage absorbed from the CA wont make a difference. I'm using it to take one hit and one hit only.
as for my choice of shako, it adds +all, which works with cta and i dont need a bunch of prebuff gear. also, the fhr on RL is useless with my coice of dual spirits (110% from them alone). the only thing it really offers is resists. shako also adds 10% more dr, which im already hurting for.

is max block necessary on an ele druid? do i need to rethink my setup?
should i get more resists and go with a wizzy?
any other thoughts on my gear selection?

IMO the way a dual-elemental Druid works best is:
20 Fissure
20 Volcano
20 Firestorm
20 Cyclone Armor
1 Hurricane

This way you have a fully synergized Fissure as your main skill, and Volcano to take care of Fire Immunes. Cyclone Armor will stop some elemental damage and will make sure that Hurricane lasts for 50 seconds. Hurricane doesn't do any damage but slows.

Use your remaining skill points to add one of the following:
- Grizzly (all remaining points in Summon Grizzly to have another source of damage)
- Oak Sage. In this case max OS before Firestorm; you want OS to be as strong as possible
- Armageddon; you have all its prerequisites so you may as well use it for a full show (Hurricane and Armageddon)
- Tornado: will be very weak but if you really want to ...
