    So I need a song..

A song for a school assignment. What I have to do is find a song that matches the mood/theme of a certain short story. The moods and themes are discrimination, lack of sense of belonging/left behind, and loss (as in losing a family member.) The song should have sad/dark sound to it. Now right now I'm listening through my music library. But I don't think I will find a song that easily. I'm not asking you guys to do my homework, because the real homework is where I fill out why I picked this song. But I'd appreciate any suggestions for a song.

    Thanks in advanced.

I can't really think of anything right now. I guess "Paint It Black" by The Rolling Stones would be good.

None of these really have to do with discrimination but they fit the other two requirements

Sunday Morning Sidewalk - Johnny Cash
Next Teardrop Falls - Freddy Fender
Midnight in Montgomery - Alan Jackson
    Whisky Lullaby - Brad Paisley
There Stands the Glass - Webb Pierce
Old Hippy - Bellamy Brothers (not dark or sad like you'd think. It's sad in it's own way)
This one will be hard to find but if you can, use it.
    John Doe - Ridler

They don't have to fit all the requirements. Just one will do. I'd like it to be in English if it has vocals. But it doesn't have to have vocals. Thanks guys.

Heh, try just about anything country from the 50's to early 80's.

If you want THE SADDEST SONG ever:
He Stopped Loving Her Today - George Jones. It'll bring a tear to the eye of even cold hearted killers the first time they hear it.

Behind Blue Eyes - The Who.

*sticks tongue out at Isolde* :D

    Also:

    Eleanor Rigby - The Beatles
The Drugs Don't Work - The Verve (also Bittersweet Symphony)
These are the Days of Our Lives - Queen

But there are loads, though to encompass all your themes you're probably looking at an american artist in the 60's, 70's or early 80's.

That will always be associated with that God-awful Halle Berry movie in my mind now.

Try various idm bands like Venetian Snares (especially the album "Rossz csillag alatt született") or Amon Tobin.
I'd also reccomend some classical music but i have no idea where to start on that one.

You go be satirical, and go with the classic "Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong :)

As for losing a family member, I personally think "Our farewell" by Within Temptation is a nice song.
After Forever's "Silence from afar" isn't too bad either

Iron Maiden's Judgement of Heaven is also worth listening to.
