So, I made a Frenzy goldfind barb...now I'm having second thoughts...

I went with sword mastery, I'm level 60+ and it's already maxed, and now I'm having second thoughts about going with sword mastery. I'm a child of 1.09, where every barb and his mother uses ccb's and stuff...now I see ebotd berserker axes and stuff...I think I should have went with axe mastery.

And what's worse, since I started this barb, I've found an Ethereal Edge and a 5 socket Rune Master AND a Hellslayer...wtf? :(

Should I just pack it in and restart with an axe frenzier, or what?

Just because the Berserker Axe is the ideal axe for most runewords doesn't mean that swords aren't an option. Hell, I would love to see a dual Azurewrath Frenzy Barb!

As long as you are killing and finding gold, who cares?

That's true...but man, they put alot of cool ass axes in 1.10. I think the reason I'm having second thoughts isn't because of what an ideal weapon would be, it's what I've found so far - 3 really sweet axes, no really sweet swords.

I guess that means some more Meph running until I found some cool stuff.

But I tell you want I want to make - 2 Grief phase blades...someday...someday...that weapon looks sick.

Eh, Grief is nice, but I think it is best used on a Smiter. They get huge bonuses from +Damage items like that and Asteons. I personally think that BotD + Beast/Doom beats Grief anyday.

...

botd < grief

my grief/beast ww barb kills with about the same effectiveness as my NL botd/beast ww'er... except my NL guy has 39x32020, while my ladder guy has a few wc charms.

I seriously don't know how you guys can say that Grief is better. Just totally ignore the 30 stats, dual leech, and highest ED in the game on BotD, and maybe it compares.

Oh wait, this is PvM. Meh, don't know much about a comparison with that in mind, but in PvP, grief is definately > BoTD.

solid average damage/Venom makes this > ebotd in PvP
solid average damage/Venom/ITD/DS/anti heal for monsters makes this better than 30 stats and leech (which is easily obtained through rings + arreats) for PvM.

on topic:

my gf barb doesnt even attack. he sits there holding 2 6 lem axes and lets the merc with 10k dmg do the killing =)

average gold per run: 500k (this is doing hell council)

as said above:

ok look at the damage of both grief and ebotd zerk

WORSE grief zerker: 340 to damage which makes it (base:24-71) 364-411 damage (AVERAGE damage of 387)

UBER ebotd zerker: 415% ed which makes it (base:36-106.5) 185-548 damage
(AVERAGE damage of 366.5)

aside of grief having a 20% of deadly strike, ITD (pvm) which is more important than 30 stats and life leech (can be easily obtained) now do you understand why grief is MUCH better now?

I'd like to add that leech isn't of any use anymore in pvp due to all the nerfings I think :p

Besides if you look at Grief versus BotD I guess you could say that Grief is not only a lot cheaper than BotD it has a higher average damage, and it has deadly strike (though only added to one weapon)

With BotD you'll get two important +stats if you're using two weapons. These are + str. (so you can equipt a heavy piece) and + vit. So in that way with BotD you'll gain +60 vit versus the damage of Grief that also gives a merely + DS

Now + 60 vit with BO giving you 3x life would be something like: 60*4*3 = 720 life (not much for one with already 7k I guess)

So I guess you could say it is 720 life versus the higher average damage of grief right? Or am I totally off base? :p

no way! :) my mercs always die at hell council, how do you do it? and what lvl is your barb?
same here i leave him at home lol, but i think i only get around 100k a hell council run (bu thopefully with some chancies and a goldwrap that will go up a bit), but 500k? what is your extra gold % at?

incorrect sir. Its most definitely not 720 life, given that multiplicative life effects do not count +vit or life on clevel. so you gain::

60x4=240 life, and not a single bit more.

In PvM too. Botd is good to use in 2handed weapons.

talk about a hijacked thread. wouldn't know about botd>grief or otherwise (homie don't play ladder)

@Oddity: least u can still socket swords with 2 of the best runewords in the game (botd & grief) despite that not helping with what u got already.
