Smiter + UT + Witches problem

Hello everyone,

I built a mid-smiter which does pretty well with all the uber monsters but dies REALLY fast when he gets hit by the Witches in the Lilith place (I forget the name)...

What can I use to survive them??

I'm wearing:

Guilliam's face
Duress
Stormlash
Metalgrid
Dwarf + Raven
116 res Pala shield (4 p diamonds)
Tgod/Nosf
Gorerider

I appreciate any help.

In my experience they only really start hurting you once you have been cursed with amplify damage so their 'red balls' must be quite a strong physical attack.

Looking at your gear you could switch out your belt for either a string of ears or verdungo's as easy ways to get a % reduction in physical damage (string being better since it gives life leech and magical damage reduction also).

Or you could get some sols into your helm and shield for the integer physical damage reduction they give and regain any lost resists through charms in your inventory.

It won't make a huge difference by the way on it's own.

I guess I should've said my pala has just a string (6ll, 15%dr, 13mdr) and he still gets eaten alive by the witches if I don't keep him moving when amped. Once I can get more gear together I'll be trying again with sol runes socketed in his helm/armour/shield to see if they can make any difference. If that doesn't do the trick then I guess a vampire gaze might be required as well.

didnot see what u use as glove

if can get dracs use it. My Smiter/Zealot heals very fast (use zeal) with zeal when dracs cast life tap on any creature. Smiter should heal too.

Yes I have dracul's 10% also. If I manage to hit them I usually have no problems but if they are far and hit me or if I miss to hit them, I get screwed

with smite u never miss

i played there a few times and got no problems, maybe your life is low or defense (dont know if they hit u magical or against your defense) or need DR...

as i said i use zeal on them to hit more than once in a second and to increase the chance to cast life tap on them so early. then switch to smite again. maybe use charge to engage melee on them.

as i experienced life steal dont work much on them, u gain little but with life tap u always have max life after a hit.

Technically, you can miss, if they decide to run mid Smite and get outta range.

Like said though, DR% works the best, but the red balls o fury are blockable, so being a Smiter, you should have max block, and that should helps loads around them. However, guessing by your shield, you may not, so that could be a problem.

Imo your gear looks fine. I tend to just use Vigor Aura (speed) to either run past them (i only kill the mobs close to Lilith, alot faster than way) or to run around all other mobs and then kill them first. I do the same with the "Deathknight mages" who cast IM.

Also try to kite them alot, move in range, and out again quickly, abuse the small doors and alike. All this is alot easier with Vigor aura on

Thanks guys - I remade the character because I had put too much dex on him and he didnt have enough life. Now with 1.4k life and dmg reduced he did OK - I did UT and prereq in about half an hour I think. I died a few times but only by Meph.

I also like pre-buffing with Treachery before hunting Lilith. It gives another 15% DR and makes things a little safer especially if you are not using high-end gear.
