It depends on what you do. Both have pros and cons.

    Zerker Pro's: Longer range
Zerker Con's: Will break, requires 60 IAS in conjunction with Fanat to get to last smite breakpoint (usually perfect 40 IAS roll + highlord's)

    Phase Blade Pro's: Faster, Indestructible
    Phase Blade Con's: Short range

A grief pb doesn't need any IAS to get to the last breakpoint for both zeal and smite, regardless of stats. Fanaticism = enough. If you are plan on doing only pvm then go for Phase Blade, you DO NOT want a weapon that breaks.

PvP, it's more complicated. It's not always a Zerker, even though they have extra range. Only use Zerker if you can get the max speed without sacrificing too much. For example, smiters use Grief Berserker Axe because they need the extra range, especially in smite vs smite. A hybrid smiter will probably go with a phase blade since they are IAS-independent.

and from what I read from the guides a tele-smiter won't need a zerk grief since he'll be namelocking/chainlocking opponents......
