Smiter: exile or hoz?

Ive been wondering which shield would be better overall for a smiter. To me upped HoZ seems hands down better than exile with hoz having better rez, block, damage compared to an exile which gives purely a nice def bonus and thats it. But yet i see all the Gg smiters rolling with the eth vortex exiles. Am i not getting something? Is it purely an aesthetics thing or is there a significant advantage exile has over a hoz.

PvM (ubers/dclone)?

The life tap triggers very often.

maybe most of u would disagree but i would use upg hoz for ubers with a life tap wand or dracs and exile for pvm.

i even wouldnot swap my upg hoz with an eth exile i love my hoz...

Its really up to you, both shields are good

HoZ - has more skills and res + a better base block (you should still hit max block with HS) also you get an AR bonus and some str and vit. over all a great shield

Exile- can go either the ED or Res way with this shield, (res for ubbers IMO but thats just me) you get life tap from it and that alone makes it worth it, and over all id say mods on exile are better. you do lose skills but if you factor in the other stuff you get like MF and some AR its makes exile a little better (to me anyway). also you could go the ED exile, 65% ED aint bad and depending on what you spend most of your time doing it might be the way to go (PvP or non ubber PvM)

both are great shields and if you are clearing ubbers with either, no need to switch. but if your looking for someone to recomend one id say go exile if you can, it just does more for you.
