smite question

smite question

I am new (today) to this forum. If I was supposed to ask this question some where else I apologize pleas let me know. My question is if you gem your weapon (paladin) with a ruby will the added fire affect smite? If not what would you suggest I gem my sword while leveling when I am a smiter, ie only need weapon for stats. I just finished normal starting hell so obviously I can put a rune word in it yet.

Fire damage from the ruby won't add to your smite damage. Other suggestions would be a Shael (20% IAS) or 15% IAS jewel if you need IAS to reach last speed break point, ED/max damage type jewels, amn rune for life leech, ber rune for crushing blow,....

Life leech will not work with smite either. Your best bet is to have a weapon with mana leech and ias. If you run out of mana from smite then u change your smite to zeal (you have enough extra skill points to put one here) and use that to fill ur mana. then back to smite.

Or find some damage to mana items to help you fill, that is about the only way u can leech as a smiter.
