i'm thinking of making a smite pally and need an answer to this game mechanics question. does the attack speed of my smite reflect the attack speed of my weapon?

my weapon choice will depend on this, so it's pretty important. while i realize astreon's is a good way to go, i'm new ladder and so far it's too hard to find so i need to choose another.

Yes it does and a shealed astreons will be 10%ias short of 6fpa smite. So 15ias a helm or use highlords or something and your good to go.

Edit: if for some reason you have enough + skills a lvl 36 fanat will hit 6fpa with just the shealed astreons.

hey, can you point me to chart that shows attack speed fps with what weapons + what IAS? because i'm trying something out... lightsabre with shael and 36 IAS from fanat. i want to know the fps for this. can you help me out?

With that fanat you'll need only 10 ias with a Lightsabre to reach max speed.
If you want the full table that tells you how much Ias you need with a lvl 25 fanat or with no fanat at all, go to the box at the top of the site labeled "Diabloii.net links".
Then under Calculators/Stat sheets click on "Ias Normal/Smite Attack".
