Smite Attack Speed

Does the weapon's speed play into how fast the attack is? I plan on making a kingslayer because that seems like a good smiter weapon and I was planning on putting it in a phase blade. Would that make my attack faster? Would the lack of damage on the phase blade make my attack weaker? Sorry, I'm a newb to smiters so I need all the help I can get. Thanks

Your smite speed is entirely based on your weapon speed. (Side note: smite takes durability from your weapon, not your shield, as well! Kind of weird...) So a phase blade is a good choice for a smiter. Check an online IAS calculator to see what you need to hit the 6 fpa limit.

sorry, we can't post links to it, but if you go to google and do a search for a weapon speed calculator, I think you will get our favorite German one pretty close to the top.

Er.... No? Only assassins barbs and weredruids fpa is based ONLY on weapon IAS.

BTW I did it for you a kingslayer PB will hit 6FPA (fastest) with lvl 2 fanat.

No, I didn't make this char, I found out what it would need to hit 6fpa.

My mistake. Do you think that a smiter with a kingslayer would be good. I'm kinda apprehensive about making one becuase it requires some semi high runes and there really isn't a demand for them on the trade market. I have all the runes and phaseblade, but I just need to figure out if I really want to make it.

Sorry, I didn't mean that it is entirely on the weapon. Obviously it also matters what IAS is on equipement, your fanat level, etc. But I meant that its not dependent on the shield; its the weapon which determines how much fanat/IAS is required.
