Small Teslafroster idea.

I've decided to make a Teslafroster. So far, my skill allocation is pretty standard: 20 holy freeze, 20 holy shock, 20 resist cold, 20 resist lightning, 20 salvation, 4 zeal, 1 might, 1 holy fire, 1 sacrifice.

Now, that leaves me with three points. (Yeah, I plan pretty far ahead). In trying to decide what to do with them, I was looking at the skill tree, and I wondered: is there a reason NOT to point one point into Vengeance, as a boss-killer attack? I'm maxing three of the synergies anyway, so provided I'm not using like a Diggler, it should be a pretty serious attack.

I can't figure out why it'd be a bad idea. Anybody have a reason?

Also, any suggestions as to what to do with my last two points? I'm a huge fan of redemption, so I figure I'll use a scepter with +1 to redemption on my off-hand -- don't have the points to fill in the prereqs.

Well one of the main problems is that you have no points for holyshield which will hurt not only your block rate but also your defense. To reach your max blockrate without holyshield would take insane amounts of dex which would put a huge dent in your total life. Another big problem is lack of ar, with only 4 points in zeal i doubt you will be hitting much of anything. It's a good idea, i'm just not too sure it can be pulled off successfully.

Seems to me both of those problems could be handled with decent gear. Just off the top of my head, a stormshield would require lots of dex to get max blocking, but the pdr should make up somewhat for the resulting lack of vitality, and there's always the angelic jewelry to make up for the AR.

I'm sure there're better equipment solutions, those're just the first I could think of.

I'd say spend them in holy shield... but you should possibly get holy shield up to 5-10, unless you have crazy amounts of +skill gear...

And don't worry about the AR... you should probably just find a weapon with ITD, like a CMPB... you wouldn't need the CB route since you have 2 elemental auras to switch between, but you should pick an aura as a main one, and find a weapon that benefits it the most.

For example, a CMPB would be ideal if you were using Holy Shock more than Holy Freeze. However, if you decided to use Holy Shock as backup, and Holy Freeze as your primary aura, perhaps a different weapon would be a good idea, but the quickness, ITD, no-repairs, and chance to cast static on the CMPB is hard to beat. It's a pretty sweet weapon.

Problem there is that with only three points left, I don't have enough to get all the Holy Shield prerequisites.

I think I'm going to stick one in vengeance, as a boss killer, since it'll be adding something like 300% cold and lightning damage, and then stick the other two in either Vengeance or Zeal.

Thanks for the advice, folks. Hadn't thought of an ITD weapon -- that's certainly a better way to go than AR gear, I think.

So far I've soloed normal, and I think I'm around level 24. This build, at least as far as I've gotten it, has worked better than anything I've ever built. The only exception is my concentrate barbarian, and it's close, but was a bit harder.

ITD doesn't work on superuniques. You won't stand a chance against bosses without some good AR and/or -%defense. I can't help but think an ETH,ETH,ETH,SHAEL,SHAEL,SHAEL weapon would be great for a melee fighter which relies on elemental damage such as your paladin, or fireclaw/rabies, etc.

Update: Just wrecked NM Duriel, haven't died yet. My AR at present leaves my chance to hit around 50%, and I wish it were higher, but it's not hindering me too much -- just slowing things down. Block rate is at 75%, which is just peachy, but I need a better shield. I wish HOZes weren't so expensive.

Have a +1 to redemption scepter on my alternate slot, which pretty much compensates for the complete uselessness of leech on a character whose weapon is a crushflange.

NM Radament was the only problem so far, since he's cold immune, but after redemption sucked up all his minions, it was just a matter of chopping away at him for a while. I've since gotten some points in holy shock, which speeds up killing cold immunes a ton.

Once I get someone to help me transfer my angelic ammy, I think I'll be pretty set on AR. Since I'm currently using an etlich and not wearing rings, it's not like switching to three angelic jewelry pieces will be a hindrance.
