+Skill = No synergy?

+Skill = No synergy?

I don't have any natural points in energyshield and my mana drains aweful fast for having 20 natural points in telekenesis. I prebuff it with a memory staff to save points, and recently a friend of mine told me that telekenesis won't synergise my + energyshield. Is this true at all? I find it kind of hard to believe.

That is NOT a fact. It seems that some people still have not understood when synergies work and when not. This is a really weird example of not understanding how it works.

If you have 20 hard points in Telekinesis, then the synergy that Telekinesis gives to Energy Shield works, no matter if you are getting your slvl of ES with hard points or with +skills.

The only important thing to know about synergies is, that the skill that gives the synergy actually has hard points in it, otherwise it will not work. +skills do not benefit synergies on the skill that gives the synergy! Nothing else!

People should really use their brains and do some calculations before they go telling fairy tales ;)

In other words "Don't believe the hype!"

I know that items with +1 to a particular skill don't GIVE synergies (i.e. my meteor doesn't get better if I equip a staff with +3 to fire ball) but I don't know if skills you get from items benefit from synergies with your assigned skill points.

And you don't have a point in energyshield to 'save points', but you maxed out telekinesis? :p

That is the only point i am not sure about either. Be sure to have at least 1 hard point in ES :), though i think it should work with 0 hard points in ES and just added from a staff aswell.

Alright thanks, I just found it kind of funny since we both have the exact same stuff and near the exact same life, yet he can kill me in 1 hit and it takes 3 for me to pop his and kill him.

if the only difference is his hard point in ES, then he has a higher absorb percentage... :scratch: that might make a difference

Synergies always work with the skill, even if the skill is a ctc, Oskill or Charges from a charged item. Staffmods are the same way the skill is at a slvl and the synergies from hard points or the charge synergy bug synergize to give you a bigger badder skill whatever it may be.

So your friend is full of himself the 20 points in telekinesis will synergize a energy shield that is made from staffmods only.

His absorb percentage is not an issue its the mana to life protected thats the issue. Even 20 in telekinesis isn't enough to lower that percentage to nothing you would need 32 hard points in the telekinesis skill, which is not possible. There is no "marrowwalk" like item with telekinesis charges, infact there are only level 2 or 3 telekinesis charges.
