How about a tab listing all your active skills, your skills level up when you use them and do more dmg, have longer effects the higher u lvl them.
your skill trees would only allow 1 skill point for active skills.
E.G
Fireball - Level 1 - Exp 123/1500
you could even add quests to unlock higher lvl's
