Skelemancer Grading & Suggestions

    Skelemancer Grading & Suggestions

    I've built a strictly skeleton necromancer using the guide posted under diabloii.net strategy section. Highly useful guide. Works very well.

    As the guide only needs about 55 skill pts to fulfill, I am just looking for some equipment suggestions and/or whatever.

    Level 72 Necro...
    Current Equipment:
    +3 summon wand
    Humonculus w/ pdiamond
    +2 marrowwalks
    Credendum
    2 rings (one all res 11, other sucks)
    telling of beads ammy(dicsciple set ammy)
    trang armor and trang gloves
    undead crown

    Brings mastery to about 33 and skeleton to 27.

    My MERC (Nightmare Thorns, kinda fun, and different.)
    Crown of thieves 9%
    Guardian Angel(dunno why, res's are nice)
    Bonehew 315% amn with open socket? suggestions another amn or shael?

    That's about it.
    Kills very well in hell even 4 players. Once you make a good enough Iron golem and your merc gets going, can make units very easily from cold plains.
    I think my necro just needs 2 new rings and a new amulet. Any cheap suggestions or costly suggestions of course being mara's and 2 soj's.

    Ammies and Rings. Maybe Crafted Caster Items?

    Consider switching to a might merc. My skeletons lose alot of killing power without him and it seems elemental is more of a concern than physical damage in hell so thorns isnt as usefull. I know it sucks to lvl up a new merc but I think its worth it.

    I was just looking at those +1 necro skill rings to craft...hmmm....
    (oops, just noticed these were removed in 1.09....da**it... :cheesy: )

    pretty cheap...


    Also, merc's level 57, and it was pretty easy to level him up (nm baal and hell act 1). So i'll try that....worth a shot. Thorns was fun and unique for a while but I see what you mean.

    cows is a good way to go. pubbie in nm cows. your merc will lvl quick if your skellie's are that high a level.

    Equipment Update

    I found shako and a +3 summoning amulet, so now I'm at 34/32. yeah!
    Might merc is on his way. 57, waiting to get him to 64 for bonehew(best i got right now)

    bonehew is a respectable weapon. great mods including PMH which most people over look. Dont' be afraid to hel it if you can't equip it right at 64.

    Keep your Thorns merc. Might has always been the most popular but with further testing and tweaking, blessed aim and thorns merc are equal to, or better in certain situations. JMHO ;)

    okay i'll try out this might merc(since i've already hired him) then see which one i like better.......who knows.

    Quick question, if all your minions are AMP'ed. and you have thorns aura on them, doesnt that increase the effect of thorns? cause enemies would be dealing more damage? makes sense to me.


    I also tried to make an iron golem out of an indestructible weapon the other day, (didnt work thought) that would've been nice, :)

    for merc equip, GA or shaftstop? Got a crown of thieves on him, looking for a eth gaze...and of course that bonehew which i will amn-hel

    shaft works well. socket a p.ruby in it for more life, or an um for more res if necessary. dump cot when you can amn/amn your boner, and get something to max out res if necessary. defense is crucial.

    if you get eth gaze (or any gaze) upgrade it, same with shaft. Def is king. but remember when you upgrade etheral items, the 50% defense bonus isn't taken into account. bugg.

    go figure, d2 is bugged?

    I give all my merc's GA, I find the 90/90/90/90 resists more helpful than Shaft.

    Besides, when doing baalruns, and everyone has to run to town or die from that posion chump...my merc just laughs at him.
