    Hello everyone,

So now that Singling has been accepted as FAM and any issues regarding it have been cleared out, I'm making this thread at the request of Thyiad so that it can be the single place for people to get information regarding Singling (and also so that there can actually be one central link in the FAQ).

With that said, here is the information:

If the SPF ever reconsiders their positions regarding a specific patch, Singling will be updated accordingly.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask here.

After using the MPQ I get an error called "Unhandled Exception: (C0000005)
When I switch acts or when I try to talk to an NPC the game crashes.
After some research on the web this is most likely be triggered via an audio bug.

Sadly enough I had to uninstall this mod.. Is there any other way to get offline runewords ?

You traced that to the MPQ? Interesting. I've noticed that bug occassionally. Finding a working compatibility mode reduced it a lot, but I still occasionally get that error.

The singling mod does also include the mod files outside of the MPQ. They can be found in the modding/changes/data folder in the zip. You have to use -direct -txt to use that method, however, and I believe that is only available on PC (or wine).

There is (was in previous patches, fixed in newest patch) a bug where if you change acts for the first time, thus loading the cinematics, in Windowed mode, the game will crash.

In reply to the sound bug..

I installed the game via the blizzard website.. Where you can attach the key to your account.
When I first installed the game via de CDs I would get compatibility errors in Windows 7. When I install the game via the digital copy I have none errors whatsoever.

I also didn't had any sound bugs or random error codes before I used this MPQ but they did occur when I used the MPQ.

McAwesome, Your error isn't related to Singling because Singling doesn't change anything that could cause that Unhandled Exception.

What I recommend is to make sure that you are updated specifically to the version you want to use and then use the files in the Files/<Version> directory. Like Drystan said, The sound bug was specifically fixed in 1.13d by the way :).

    http://diablo.wikia.com/wiki/Patch_1.13d_(Diablo_II)
It's also interesting in regards to the compatibility issue between CDs vs Digital Copy. I don't think there are any file differences between the CD and Digital Copy, it's just the way the files are installed and the way the CD Key is used (16 digit keys vs 26 or w/e the new ones length are).

If you need any help getting Singling up, just post here and I'll try to help you. It literally should just be the following though:

    1. Perform a vanilla installation
    2. Update to latest patch (1.13d)
    3. Take files from Singling's Files/1.13d folder (D2gfx.dll and Patch_D2.mpq) and override the files in your Diablo II directory.

What I do for compatibility is that I right click the Game.exe (and or Diablo II.exe - whichever one you will be using to play D2) and click Properties -> Compatibility -> Run this program in compatibility mode for (Windows XP SP3). I only do this because my -Mouse 3- button doesn't work for my automap if I don't do this. Not because of performance or crashing issues. I also don't use UAC on my Windows 7 installation and disable it completely.

    Hello all,

    I've added support for multiple instances for 1.09, 1.09b, 1.10b, and 1.10s.

NOTE: I know the SPF calls it "1.10a", but Blizzard calls this "1.10b", Example from the patch file: LODPatch_Beta_110b.exe

    Hello folks,

I've released a new version of singling which provides the following benefit:

People no longer have to either:
    - Beat normal difficulty to make a HC char
    - Use the ATMA workaround to make a lvl 1 hc character and then use that to make more HC chars.

This also is more convenient since if a person deletes all of their characters in pre 1.10f (AllowHardcore registry key doesn't work in 1.10b/s nor below), then the game would actually "forget" that you can make HC chars.

I spoke to Thyiad earlier about this and it was ok (Singling as a whole including this new benefit is FAM).

Hello Jonathan. I love the idea of coloured runes in older patches. I think I once had purple runes in .09d .. not sure if i still have it ..

I'll be keen to try it for 1.07, 1.08 and beta .10

Personally I'm not sure why people would play .11 or .12 now. I know one guy loves some "multires" mod in .12

I believe I already have a DLL for multi running for .09 .. possibly .10

The first version of Singling IIRC had color runes for every version, however the SPF didn't want colored runes for every version so I removed any coloration in versions that the SPF was not happy with.

@Friiser I'm pretty sure it doesn't since Blizzard merged all of their .dlls into the Game.exe. You would technically need a modified Game.exe that just had the D2Gfx.dll customizations in order for you to get that behavior again.

Ugh...I've upgraded to 1.14d. I now see why others are still at 1.13.

I really appreciate you doing this. Thank you.

Edit: Currently getting a "Cannot Load Diilaunch.dll: error 127"

Edit#2: This is just with 1.00. I tried 1.06 with the new .dll and it works perfectly.

Edit#3: Scratch all that. It works perfectly. I'm foolish.

    Thanks again!

What is the purpose of having multiple instances?
