Now, I'm not sure if this is a common error or what, but here's what is going on.

I start up D2, I create a character, I get through a few quests, I click "save and exit", the game ends.

A few hours later I go to start up the character, character hasn't progressed at all and remains at level 1, standing exactly where he would when you first create a character.

So, my question and complaint is this...

...why can't I save my character?

I've tried multiple patches (1.13c, 1.14b), uninstalling and reinstalling, using a different key, nothing works.

No matter what I've tried, I cannot update my character at all from level 1 when you first start the game.

So, for the past 6 hours, I have wasted my time doing absolutely nothing productive.

Anyone know what this problem is or how to fix it?

Is it a 2D DirectDraw error? Do I need to use 3D DirectX for install?

Like, what the heck is the problem?!?!

(I'm on Windows 10 by the way)

This happens if the save location is write-protected. Don't install d2 to a system folder, and don't use things like guest accounts.
