Simple Rune Question

Does it make any sense to trade my "MF Drop Items" for runes? It's my understanding that almost ALL higher-end runes are duped. And if they are duped they can disappear if B-net does a dupe purge. Is this right?

Also, do duped runs retain their "duped status if used in runewords? Will runeworded items disapper if there is a dupe purge? I just need clarification to know to make the safest trades possible. Thanks.

Runes wont dissappear when socketed, nor will jewels. Seriously. .did you even look before you asked this question though. .I don't know how many times questions like these have been asked it's kind of annoying. . . .

Anyways, GameFellow, the "duped" runes that are for trade aren't actually the real duped runes. When people did the duping, they would dupe, for example, 2 Chams and upgrade to a Zod with whatever gem was needed. The actual dupes wouldn't have stayed around. So just about all "duped" runes are real runes MADE out of duped runes, so they won't disappear. This is also why there was no rune "dupe" on non-ladder, because the upgrade recipies aren't available for even semi-rare runes.

"Duped" runes in runewords, however, I am not sure about, as they could have been made out of the actual duped runes. This may be more expensive, but I would buy the individual runes, not the runeword you are seeking.

Did not intend to be annoying. Yes, I did a search on "duped runes" and came up with about a dozen pages with about 24 threads each (200-300 total threads) with some useless info, some interesting odd bits and pieces on the subject, some useful...but alot of it was contradictory. I thought I might try again and get a better consenus. Side note: if a question bugs you, don't reply...so you don't waste your time, and mine.

Thanks Cloud_Walker, I appreciate your informative response. I did not realize that duped runes were being made legit by cube upgrade. I guess that makes it a safer option for me to trade for runes. I'll just cross my fingers and go for it. Thanks!
