Shoulder pads are for sissies

Is it just me or does 'shoulder pads' just sound weak?

Where does this weak term come from? American football? WOW? girly fairy fantasy land?

My Barb shall don shoulder armour (or armor if you like that sort of thing) or spaulders or better yet pauldrons (yeah...that's right... i have google and apparently too much time).

If this sort of thing is left to propagate we may well end up with silly such things like calling helms bonnets. Where will the madness end.

As silly a complaint as this is, I agree completely. I am sure, however, that at some point the devs will simply say, "Oh by the way, we changed shoulder pads to shoulder armor/pauldrons/spaulders . . ."

You can tell by the nit-picking that Blizz hasn't released anything worthwile since the Wizard.

I would not think a piece of cloth on my shoulder would be thought of as armor.

It's more for sparring - think "shirts & skins".

"Pauldrons" is used to refer specifically to plate armor.

correct me if i'm wrong, but..when you have chest armor on. does that not already include the shoulder anyway? i seem to recall, as i still play d2 to this day. that no matter what your wearing for your chest piece. your character shows as having armor on his shoulder. its sorta assumed that your shoulder is covered when u have a body piece on that supports the main middle area.

next we will see pieces for your ankle, wrist, elbows, knees, neck, arms..etc. c'mon blizzard. don't get ridiculous and redundant.we didn't need it in d2, we don't need it now.

ah my god! BLizzard your so evil giving us extra armor and stats, and giving us something else to collect..... just evil i say.

WTH, it is shoulder pads, it does nothing to hurt the game, if you dont like dont use em.

I think they will suck. Armor already has shoulder pads. The platelegs are fine but not shoulder pads. They should add a cape instead.

that is precisely my point. and yes, a cape is a great idea. hell, they have brought over enough ideas from WoW. why not the cape. shoulders aren't necessary as it has been said, they already exist with the gear we have. all your doing is dicing up the armor that already exists so you have more pieces that you have to worry about collecting. and we already have enough of that. a cape at least makes sense cause its a completely separate accessory from the rest of the body pieces, much like the jewelry.

a cape would look fukn BADASS. especially now that we have a 3D engine where we can see really nice artwork on capes and see them flow in the air as we slay ****.
