should templar merc's in game model be changed?

so I want to get a feel of how many people here dislike the Templar in game model, and if there was a possibility of blizzard redoing or modifying the model would you support such a move.

It would be nice if it matched the concept art better, but I don't care if they will remake it or not.

I think they look great and wouldn't mind if they stayed that way, so I voted it's fine the way it is. Only problem I can foresee is that they have the potential to look cooler than me (!) so Blizzard have some work to do on those player character armors and sets. *nods*

The title should really be "Do you like the Templar model?", since there is no chance at all it will be changed and the current title is only going to fuel another pointless pissing contest about how terrible the art is.

Not saying that wouldn't have happened anyway but still.

Personally, I'm glad it doesn't. The concept has him encased past his neck...he can barely move at all. The in-game model is far tamer and isn't extravagant.

    I vote that it's fine as-is.

aside from his over sized shoulder armor, the templar's armor texture and coloring really is sub par. if they leave it the way it is, I will avoid the Templar as much as I can.
It really isn't that hard for them to just change up the model of a single character, they could even do this while the beta is underway!

I was mostly talking stylistically. I would definitely prefer the more monolithic metallic colors on armor here.

I'd really like to know where this "plastic" band wagon spawned from. It looks like he's covered in steel with gilded trimmings. How is that plastic?

sure these two armor tiers of the templar look totally metal!!!

putting the argument of plastic aside would the Templar not look better is he looked more similar to the concept art?

That's why I took the time to say "gilded". That's gold.

PS: Gold is a type of metal, not plastic.

    It's not shiny enough.

Re: should templar merc's in game model be changed?

first, it does not look like gold, as there is no sense of metallic reflective surface, while the in game shields and the two other mercs heavy armor does have a metallic visual to it.

second, what are they trying to achieve by having "glided gold" on a characters armor in D3?? It does not fit the diablo setting. gold colored armor was used in D2 but not in the same fashion as this. the amazon had gold colored armor but that was the entire set, not a lame outline on her armor like it is for the templar.

Re: should templar merc's in game model be changed?

So it's plasticy because it doesn't shine enough, so to remedy it, you cite an even darker, completely dull look. This passes for making sense?

Gold is because he's a templar. He's a holy warrior, essentially a paladin. Did we forget that the famous HoZ was a Gilded Shield? The Templar is the exact same way gold was used in D2, even on people like the Barb, Sin, Sorc, etc.

    It's a Diablo 3 art debate.

But the gist of the plastic accusation is that it doesn't look reflective (i.e. path of exile), I think.

Re: should templar merc's in game model be changed?

PoE looks like plastic because it reflects. It looks exactly like stainless steel with gold on it, and last I checked they were both metals.

Anyway, this isn't about PoE's faults...

Re: should templar merc's in game model be changed?

Let me rephrase it. The root of the plastic accusation is probably because it doesn't look like this:

Which is funny, because polished steel isn't exactly "gritty."

Me? I just like monocolored armor.

Fine as is, we don't need a release date of 2014.
