Should I bother with MF character?

I started up a couple days ago after years of absence and decided that I needed to make a magic find character pronto.
Yesterday I lost two potential magic find characters to monsters and a lack of caution on my part, I'm beginning to wonder if I should really be making my first character based around magic find. What are some good builds for all around survivability?

No, you should not start with a Magic Finder.

You should make a horde killer to build up a charm base. I prefer Javazons, but anything that can kill large numbers of creatures relatively quickly and safely will do. Run hordes - Flayers, Cows, etc. Anywhere you can kill quickly. Once you've got the charms & runes to have a decent life sorc with spirit, stealth, insight, rhyme, or whatever, then make your MFer.

Anything that can run late NM and early Hell areas and mow stuff down is good.

Skellymaster
Java
Trapper
Windy
Hammerdin

There are more but these all really kick tail in late NM easily and can all solo in early Hell easy and even do well in late hell. Being able to run Flayer Jungle, Act 4 and Act 5 and Council in NM is solid.

Eldritch/Shenk/Baal runs are good to build up some gear......Flayer and Cows for charms and gems to roll charms.

Norm Diablo is the 1 monster that will rape your skelletons. I suggest asking for help from someone you trust when you reach him.

DOnt push Diablo, I usually wait til 30 on most builds, it is so easy to level fast in FLayer or Act 4 or even doing council runs to push Diablo early.

Diablo in Norm doesnt regen.......just take your time, keep a portal open and out of his movement range so you can run and hit town, load up and go again.

Decrep sure slows him.......

***** about D is even at max resisits he still hurts you a great deal on low life casters.

On a Sorc......DONT STATIC its just begging to get smoked, stay at range and hit and run.

With a Skelly dude I take him out wiht Bonewalls/Bone Spear/Decrep and I dont get close I keep him barely on the screen.

The "hurts a great deal even at max resists" part is because his lightning hose does half lightning half physical, which is tough to counter at low levels. Straight PDR is the best method, but the only item I can think of off the top of my head (besides Sol rune) is Cathan's ring.

My classic necro is getting close to facing the beast, he's almost 27 now, and has his six skeles and clay golem. I ended up using IM to kill meph, as decrep was putting out lower damage as my skeletons died anyway. Kind of dreading Big D.

I find that you can usually mf nm meph with an untwinked sorc by the time you get there (lvl 70ish). It's just preference
