Shock Web !!!

Is shock web any good for anything other than synergy?

A long time ago I made a LS trapsin, several actually. In early leveling I always loved throwing shockweb at the feet of monsters I was meleeing.

I've tried many assassin builds but never a fire trapper so I have no idea how big an area Shockweb would cover with the Fireblast synergy. Is it big?

Other super satisfying things I did on my assassins:
Repeatedly MB players in PvP or Cows in Hell until LS/DS respectively cut them down.
Kicking and Tele-Kicking things.

So now I''m back into d2, and on the new ladder, and trying to think up something crazy for my assassin. Some sort of Shockweb based trapper.

Anyone tried anything like that? Dropping one of the standard LS synergies in favor of FB? I know some pure trapper builds invest all their points in this one arm of the tree ( including FB for lightning immune mobs) but I want to spend a decent chunk of points in the shadow tree, so I just wont have the points to max Lightning. I'm actually considering dropping 2 synergies, leaving both Charged Bolt and Death Sentries at one point, with 18 in FB for +6 spikes, and throwing in some DTalon/Tail action, maybe treachery for Venom.

Does this have a chance of working or is it too all over the place?
Thanks.

I know there is the Bombasin build that combines Shock Wave and Fire Blast (I believe there is a guide in the stickies).

I think the damage from Shockweb is fine, but the problem is you need to aim, while other trap skills just aim for you. But if that's fine with you, go for it!

problem is the terrible "next hit delay" on shock web, meaning an enemy hit by shockweb can't be hurt for one second. (don't play around with slvl1 shockwebs in baalruns for fun)

Ok i found the Bombsin guide and it gives me hope.
[note: the link in the sticky points to the Cold Maiden]

About "next-hit-delay" though: I thought the damage immunity only applied to the particular attack that caused the delay - not all damage. I don't see how this would be a great detriment in baal-running. If it was all damage sure....

Something in the grips of a shockweb would take the shockweb damage once per second and still be vulnerable to additional LS/FB damage correct?

IIRC correctly, nextdelay prevents any attack which is also affected by nextdelay from damaging a monster. Similar to how timered spells prevent the casting of any other timered spell, but not spammable spells.
