I have a meteorb sorc, its my first and only ladder char so getting new gear is tough. I have a low viper, peasant crown, lidless, spirit sword, magefist, and goldwrap. rings are 10fcr rare(nothing else good) and 20 energy. When i try and run meph with this ( i know mf sucks but i have trouble even with this) i run though 9 mana pots w/o finding it sometimes. I am lvl 77 btw. any ideas? i already have 60 mana or so from charms. it gets frustrating when i have to tp back to town to buy more, even though my mf sucks. I wouldn't mind giving up mf for speed, but that's not the case. any input is much appreciated.

-on a side note( i know this might not belong here) is there anyplace for LLD posting?

Insight is relatively easy to obtain. I got almost all of the runes (except Sol) as I was leveling in Normal. Sol is probably the hardest to find, but I'm sure you could obtain one.

Even if you don't put it on a colossus voulge, it's still worth it.

well i have insight, should have mentioned that. Is there anyway to have my merc not die every meph run bc he is dumb. i can stand back, he doesnt.

I got a lvl 66 es/fo sorc runs all nm bosses great with a holy freeze merc + insight. I haven't tried running hell meph, but from my experience from past ladder with a classic fo/thunderstorm sorc, mercs just suck at tanking meph, unless they have good dr and ll gear. As for mana I too ended up spending mass amounts of mana pots, with base energy, running hell meph. Once you get richer better plus skill gear helps, since it ups the one point wonder on warmth.

Moat trick bliz, but do it on the far right side. Tele far away and hopefully the merc will start walking backwards.

On my Lightning/Orb sorc, I put orb on left click while spamming teleport on the right click to keep the merc in place for meph runs. He still dies sometimes, because teleporting becomes boring, but not every run.

Also, with some life-leech or a lifetap charge item on switch, he is much better at surviving.

Try dual spirits? And maybe get one of those amulets with +attrib. Mahim-oak has +10 all, I think, and Saracen's chance has more, as well as some decent resist. +10 energy will help.

With dual spirits and a vipers, as well as Insight on the merc, I have no problems with energy, except in cases when I do some serious skill spam (I'm talking 5 mins+ of holding down a 40 mana spell.)

What level is the meditation aura on the Insight?

For your sorc, you might want to consider getting a few items that boost your mana further. Grand Charms can give as much as ~55 mana, small can give as much as 17. Sapphire gems can be socketed in your armour & helm and give 38 mana... If you can boost your mana even 100 points, you'll notice a difference. Get 200-300 more, and you'll notice a big difference.

And also, you could awlays just get a low-end Insight and equip it yourself on weapon switch for teleporting. Make it in something like a Halberd or Poleaxe. Then you don't need a merc.

the fact that ur own equipment is not too great, it's going to be hard to suggest equipments that ensure ur merc doesnt die too easily.... but ever consider finding high def armor for ur merc? or may be items that leeches?
back to ur sorc, I was wondering, how much energy do you have? I understand everyone say dont put any points into energy, but I believe that is mostly assuming the sorc has pretty good gear.

I went with no energy, I kinda ditched the problem and am running some NM cows in hopes of finding some skiller gcs, found a pul pretty soon after starting too. I have found enough mana scs that i am fine now. now just gotta find a shaft for my merc then gonna try hell. thanks for all the help
